Centre for Advanced Research in Indian System of Medicine
SASTRA University is committed to research in strengthening the Indian Systems of Medicine particularly Ayurveda and Siddha for the global acceptance by means of standardization and validation. With such keen interest to encourage its research activities and manpower development, SASTRA has established an autonomous multi–disciplinary independent Centre for Advanced Research in Indian System of Medicine (CARISM) in 2004.
CARISM was formally inaugurated on 6th March 2005 by Shri Kapil Sibal, Minister for Science and Technology and Ocean Development, Govt. of India, during his visit to SASTRA along with Prof. V. S. Ramamoorthy, Secretary, Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of India who was the guest of honour. Shri Kapil Sibal applauded SASTRA for taking up advanced research in Indian System of Medicine and declared that the DST would extend all help for SASTRA's research activities.
