NIT Puducherry, also known as NIT Karaikal or NITPY, is an autonomous public technical university located in the city of Karaikal, a coastal enclave in the Union Territory of Puducherry, India. Established in 2010, it is one of the ten new NITs and is recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India.

NIT Puducherry offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in engineering and sciences:

• Undergraduate Programs (UG):
  • Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in various specializations like:

  • Admission to B.Tech. programs is based on JEE Main scores followed by counselling conducted by CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board).
  • Important Note: 50% of the seats are reserved for students from Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe, and Yanam, and the remaining 50% are filled on an all-India basis.
• Postgraduate Programs (PG):

Eligibility for Admission

• UG Programs:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized university with a good academic record.

The admission process typically involves:

1. Online Application: Submit an application form through the CSAB website (for UG programs) or the institute website (for PG programs) during the designated application window.

3. Merit-based Selection: Selection based on entrance exam scores, previous academic performance, and reservation criteria (for UG programs).
