{"id":9931,"date":"2022-09-23T14:27:44","date_gmt":"2022-09-23T14:27:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.indcareer.com\/news\/the-context-of-india\/"},"modified":"2022-09-23T14:56:20","modified_gmt":"2022-09-23T14:56:20","slug":"the-context-of-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.indcareer.com\/news\/the-context-of-india\/","title":{"rendered":"The Context of India |"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Manisha Priyam, Professor of Education Policy at the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration, New Delhi delivered a Distinguished Lecture on <strong>Building Universities that Matter: The Context of India Today<\/strong> on September 23, 2022 at the University of Hyderabad.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In her talk which was attended by students, faculty and officials, Dr. Priyam asserted, \u201cThere\u00a0are still Himalayan barriers in the way for our girls to come to great institutions in the country\u201d. \u201cIn the South of Vindyachal\u00a0region, the ratio\u00a0of students and colleges is very good when compared to Northern India. We have a strong foundation of public universities\u00a0and institutions; however these institutions must become <strong><em>Sarthak<\/em><\/strong> (Meaningful) by providing for global needs\u201d, she added.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-25691\" src=\"https:\/\/www.indcareer.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/5X6A0057-1024x683.jpg\" alt='' width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" data-pagespeed-url-hash=\"1351313285\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While concluding her talk Dr. Priyam remarked, \u201cRegional variation forms a boundary and the question is: do we have the tools to end these variations? If we do this, our seat of learning will become Sarthak in the real sense\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Prof. B J Rao, Vice-Chancellor, while giving the presidential remarks\u00a0earlier said, \u201cUniversities\u00a0are the best places to create ideas. The school was established by an act of the Parliament of India in 1974 as a Central University. Over the years, it has emerged as a top ranking institute of higher education and research in India. The university also offers courses under distance learning programs.
