TIRUCHY: In a bid to enhance students’ exposure to technology, approximately 7,000 middle schools in the state are slated to receive hi-tech labs, while an additional 20,000 primary schools will be equipped with smart classes in the upcoming academic year, announced S Kannappan, the Director of Elementary School Education, on Thursday.

The announcement came after a thorough inspection of ongoing schemes at a Corporation Primary School in Thanjavur Municipal Colony. Kannappan emphasized the department’s commitment to ensuring not only quality education but also quality food for students. Officials have been instructed to maintain constant vigilance over the food provided to students.

Highlighting the government’s dedication to introducing the latest technology to students from an early age, Kannappan assured the establishment of hi-tech labs in approximately 7,000 middle schools and smart classes in 20,000 primary schools across the state in the upcoming academic year.

Moreover, an ambitious plan is in motion to provide around 80,000 teachers from primary and middle schools across the State with tablets featuring internet connectivity. Kannappan believes that this initiative will empower teachers to assist students in improving their learning capabilities. Importantly, it will bridge the gap for students in rural areas, ensuring access to quality education.

“This initiative aligns with our commitment to fostering technological literacy and improving the overall learning experience for students. By integrating technology into classrooms and providing teachers with digital tools, we aim to create a more inclusive and technologically advanced educational landscape,” Kannappan stated.

The move to equip middle schools with hi-tech labs and primary schools with smart classes reflects a broader vision for transforming the educational infrastructure, making it more dynamic and responsive to the evolving needs of students in the digital age.

The upcoming academic year promises not only a revolution in the way education is delivered but also an empowering shift for teachers, ensuring they have the necessary tools to guide students effectively. This initiative signifies a crucial step toward creating a future-ready generation, adept at navigating the complexities of a technology-driven world.

As the state gears up for this monumental change, the focus remains on creating an educational ecosystem that fosters curiosity, innovation, and a seamless integration of technology into the daily learning experience. The announcement holds the promise of a brighter, more technologically advanced future for thousands of students across the state.
