Prof. M. Jayananda, Professor at the Centre for Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS), School of Physics, University of Hyderabad has been invited to serve as a Member on the Governing Body of the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG), Dehradun. This has the approval of the Ministry of Science & Technology, New Delhi.

Prof. M. Jayananda focuses on understanding the early Earth dynamics, origin of proto-continents, Archean crustal growth and mantle evolution. Prof. Jayananda’s extensive research on fundamental architecture of the southern peninsular shield, thermo-mechanical processes involved in building of cratons and evolving tectonics of early Earth has significant impact in understanding the origin of strategic mineral resources and their exploration. His vast experience and knowledge will help the WIHG to carry out much needed multidisciplinary research for understanding the collisional orogeny of various phases of mountain building in Himalaya and its interactions with atmosphere.
