Prof. Ajailiu Niumai, faculty and Head of the Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion & Inclusive Policy, University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been appointed as Senior Research Associate in the Department of Sociology, University of Johannesburg (UJ), South Africa for a period of three years. The UJ will also establish a financial grant for her research and international travel.
Prof. Ajailiu Niumai
Prof. Ajailiu Niumai served as the Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology in UoH from 2000-2009 & she is one of the pioneers in establishing the Centre for Women’s Studies, UoH in 2007. She is the Honorary Adjunct Professor, Department of Science and Humanities, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Nagaland (September 2020- August 2023). Ajailiu Niumai is a Member, Managing Committee of the Indian Sociological Society (ISS) (2019-2025). She served as Convenor of RC-04 Migration & Diaspora Studies of ISS (2016-2019). She has been an active member of the International Sociological Association (ISA). She also served as the Chairperson of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), UoH (2020-21). Prof. Ajailiu graduated from Miranda House (1995) in Sociology (Honours), Delhi University & completed her M.A (1997), M.Phil (1999) and Ph.D in Sociology (2008) from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She completed her Post-Doc from the University of Iowa, USA (2014).
