Students can expect new NCERT textbooks for all classes under the revamped syllabus in the next two years, according to official sources in the Union Education Ministry. The new textbooks will be aligned with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE), which is based on the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has been tasked with preparing textbooks for a total of 130 titles that cover classes from 1 to 12. So far, new books for Class 3 and 6 have been made available to schools and uploaded on the NCERT website.
The new textbooks will be rolled out in a phased manner, with all the textbooks expected to be ready for all classes by 2026. The source said, “It will take at least two years for all the textbooks to be released for all the classes in line with the NCF.”
In addition to the revamped syllabus, the NCERT has also been asked to review and update the content of the textbooks every year. This is to ensure that the textbooks are up-to-date with the latest information and changes in the world.
“In the fast-changing world, it is important that the textbooks are updated. The NCERT has been asked to conduct a review on a yearly basis and update them ahead of the beginning of the new academic session,” the source added.
The new textbooks will provide students with a more comprehensive and holistic understanding of various subjects, as per the vision of the NEP 2020. The revised syllabus aims to promote critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills among students, making learning more enjoyable and engaging.
In conclusion, the new NCERT textbooks with a revamped syllabus will be a welcome change for students, providing them with a more updated and comprehensive understanding of various subjects. The NCERT’s commitment to reviewing and updating the content every year will ensure that the textbooks remain relevant and up-to-date with the changing times.
