National Sports Day Celebrations

 Over
750 participate in cross country on occasion of National Sports Day

 

On the
occasion of National Sports Day, Cross Country 2022 was organised by Chandigarh
University wherein more than 750 students participated with the aim to raise
awareness about the values of sports, discipline, perseverance, sportsman
spirit, and teamwork, as well as to honour the nation’s sports heroes and
champions.


In the boys
category, a 4.2 kilometres Cross Country was organised where Rahul secured
first position, followed by Nikhil and Bhupendra. In the girls category, the
race distance was 3.4 kilometres, in which Kiran secured first position,
followed by Mukta and Kushali.

 

A Walkathon
was also organised for staff members early Monday morning at Varsity’s Gharuan
campus. National Sports Day is celebrated every year on 29th August to
commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey legend, Major Dhyan Chand.
