Mr Rajasekharam Mallipudi, a research scholar in Translation Studies in the Centre for Applied Linguistics and Translation Studies, School of Humanities at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been selected for the 12th session of the prestigious Institute of World Literature-2022 (IWL) of the Department of Comparative Literature, Harvard University. The 12th Institute of World Literature session will take place from July 4 to July 28 at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany.

The Institute of World Literature is a unique initiative of the Department of Comparative Literature of Harvard University to explore the possibilities and potentialities of “the study of literature in a globalizing world”. Towards this end, it conducts a four-week session lead every year that includes Seminars, Colloquia, Plenary Lectures and Panels. This year, seminars are taught by distinguished scholars in Comparative Literature and Translation Studies, such as David Damrosch (Harvard University), B. Venkat Mani (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Lawrence Venuti (Temple University) and others. It’s a rare opportunity for participants to share their work with acclaimed scholars and peers in the field world over and critically examine the challenges of Comparative Literature World Literature and Translation Studies.
Apart from attending seminars, lectures, and panels, Mr Rajasekharam will present a paper on “The Realism of S. Natarajan” in one of the IWL colloquia. He has recently submitted his PhD thesis on “Novel, Progressive Writers’ Movement, and the Telugu Public Sphere: The Literary Journey of S. Natarajan” under the supervision and guidance of Prof. Shivarama Padikkal and received the Charles Wallace India Research Grant in 2017.
