The KISS-DU Library organized a Public Lecture Event on ‘E-resources and their Usage’ in association with National Digital Library of India (NDLI) Club on 23rd April 2022. The faculty members, research scholars and students who are registered members of NDLI Club attended the event.
In his welcome address, Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Vice-Chancellor, KISS-DU & Patron, NDLI Club, KISS-DU highlighted the importance of National Digital Library as a virtual repository of learning resources for the learner community. The purpose of NDLI Clubs is to develop knowledge and skills beyond the regular curriculum and in this context the KISS-DU Library has conducted events to facilitate the members to elevate their knowledge and hone their skills, he stated.
The resource person, Dr. Dillip K. Swain, Librarian, KIIT-DU presented a detailed description of the e-resources and their usage. While talking about the art for searching an article, he said that Google is like an ocean and one should be specific on the subject area to enhance the search process. Dr. Swain stressed that the impact factor of a journal should be analyzed first before publication. He suggested the research scholars use Open Resource Journals in addition to Subscribed Journals for their research activities. He concluded by saying that the Directory of Open Access Journal (DOAJ) is one among the Open access Journals and similarly NDLI is a vast source of information for the Research Scholars.
Mr. Dula Bankira, Research Scholar, KISS-DU offered a vote of thanks after the question and answer session. Among others, the senior members of the NDLI Club (KISS-DU) the President Dr. Prashanta Kumar Routray, Secretary Dr. Krupasindhu Nayak and the Executive Member Mr. Rabin Kumar Khandayatray were also present.
