Belagavi: Emotions ran high at the Karnataka Law Society’s Raja Lakhamagouda Law College (RLLC) as students and teachers gathered to felicitate five esteemed judges of the High Court of Karnataka, all proud alumni of the college. The momentous ceremony took place at the K.K. Venugopal Auditorium on the college campus, where Chief Justice of the High Court, Prasanna Varale, honored the distinguished High Court judges Sachin Shankar Magdum, Ravi B. Hosmani, K.S. Hemalekha, Anil B. Katti, and Raghavendra D. Huddar.

Expressing his nostalgia for his student days, Mr. Magdum recalled how he eventually fell in love with law despite starting as a Science graduate due to family pressure. Encouraging the students from North Karnataka, especially those from smaller towns and villages, he urged them to embrace opportunities, join esteemed law offices, and learn from seasoned professionals to succeed in their legal careers. His advice included reading at least two judgments per day, dedicating time to court experiences, and cherishing the hard work put into the profession.

All the judges cherished their experiences at RLLC, expressing gratitude to their former principals, teachers, librarians, and staff. Mr. Hosmani shared his pride in being associated with the college, while Mr. Huddar fondly remembered small gestures of encouragement that boosted their confidence. Ms. Hemalekha urged young girls to aim high, break barriers, and embrace their capabilities with hard work, determination, and humility.

Mr. Katti emphasized the importance of hard work and self-discovery in the legal profession, urging students to prove their mettle. The judges collectively advised students to stay updated with current affairs and legal developments, work diligently during the initial years, and show respect to elders in the profession.

Chief Justice Varale offered reassuring words to the law students, encouraging them not to worry about the future. He urged them to remain committed to the ideals of the profession, focus on their goals, and find happiness and success without being driven solely by materialistic aspirations. Mr. Varale also emphasized the sacred nature of the legal profession, where respect for elders and adherence to Constitutional values are vital.

Chairman of Karnataka Law Society, Anant Mandagi, further motivated the students, reminding them of their immense potential to succeed in their chosen fields. He urged them to draw inspiration from the presence of accomplished judges who were once students of their college.

The ceremony concluded with a sense of pride and gratitude, with Karnataka Law Society office-bearers and members, college governing council chairman M.R. Kulkarni, principal A.H. Hawaldar, event coordinator Samina Baig, and esteemed teachers, students, and senior advocates in attendance. The felicitation served as a reminder of the enduring bond between the college and its illustrious alumni, who continue to shine as pillars of the legal fraternity.
