This landmark decision was part of several initiatives aimed at strengthening the bond between the two prestigious institutions, solidified during the recent visit of the IIT-H delegation to KU.

The Joint Doctoral Programme (JDP) presents a golden opportunity for brilliant and motivated students from India and Nepal to engage in cutting-edge research across science, technology, design, and medical innovations. Under this program, students admitted to the JDP at KU will have the privilege to spend up to one year at IIT-H, fully supported by an IIT-H scholarship throughout their stay. Similarly, students from IIT-H will also have the chance to explore research opportunities at KU.

This collaboration seeks to foster successful academic and research partnerships, capitalizing on their shared interests and complementary capabilities. By harnessing the synergy at both institutions, this initiative is poised to propel outstanding research endeavors.

In another stride towards empowering the next generation of researchers, IIT-H will host 10 BTech students from KU during their final year (4th year) starting from the August 2023 cycle. This endeavor aims to provide vital research exposure to undergraduate students, nurturing their potential for future scientific pursuits. Additionally, IIT-H has graciously agreed to welcome undergraduate students from KU for short research internships, further enriching their academic experience.

To elevate the collaborative spirit to new heights, both Institutes have also decided to exchange their faculty, facilitating joint efforts in tackling grand challenges that are pertinent to both nations. The exchange of knowledge and expertise promises to yield groundbreaking results in various domains, including Medical Technology, Yoga, and Heritage Science.

Speaking at this momentous occasion, Prof Bhola Thapa, Vice-Chancellor of KU, and Director Prof BS Murthy of IIT-H, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in advancing research and academic pursuits for the betterment of both nations and beyond.

This strategic alliance between IIT-H and Kathmandu University holds great promise in pushing the frontiers of knowledge and fostering innovation through a united approach to academic excellence and research brilliance.
