Dr. Sajaudeen Nijamodeen Chappraban, an Alumnus in the Centre for Comparative Literature (CCL), School of Humanities, University of Hyderabad (UoH) 2013 batch, has been awarded the University of Illinois Library Research Award 2022.

Dr. Sajaudeen will conduct a short term research project on “Ethnic Identity and Narratives of Muslim Women in America After 9/11” at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, IL, the USA from June 22-28, 2022. He was also selected for another prestigious summer fellowship to participate in the Schusterman Center’s Summer Institute for Israel Studies from 29 June – 10 July 2022 at Brandies University, Waltham, Massachusetts USA, and 11 July – 21 July 2022 in Israel.
He completed his PhD at UoH and his thesis was on “Muslim Diasporic Writings: Issues and Challenges to Identities in Select Fictions after 9/11” under the supervision of Prof. J. Bheemaiah. He is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Centre for Diaspora Studies at the Central University of Gujarat, Gandhinagar.
Dr. Sajaudeen has had a very humble background and he has worked hard to reach this stage in his career. He says, “It is really a matter of pride to receive such a prestigious award and fellowship. I am grateful to the faculty members who have supported me in my higher studies and especially the university which provided space to explore my potential.” He has widely published and presented his research and delivered lectures and participated in various academic programs in India, Nepal, Poland, Germany, Taiwan, Austria, Uzbekistan, Greece, Turkey, Croatia, Bangladesh, Iraq, U.K., U.S.A., Sweden. His areas of interest includes Diaspora Literature and Culture, Interdisciplinary, Contemporary Literary, and Cultural Theory, Migration, Diaspora, Refugee, Muslim Diaspora, Indian, Chinese, and Jewish Diaspora, Citizenship, South Asian Studies, and Research Methodology.
