BSF Janbaz Motorcycle Show marks ‘Azadi
Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations at Chandigarh University

 

MOHALI: Patriotism filled the air at the
Gharuan campus of Chandigarh University, celebrating ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’
to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence, with daredevils of
Border Security Force (BSF) enthralled everyone by putting up a show of
undaunted courage with their intrepid skills and stunts on daredevils.

Janbaz, a
64-member team of motorcyclists from Headquarters, Special DG, BSF, Western
Command, Chandigarh defied gravity and put up a daring show of skills and
technique on their motorcycles, much to the applaud of the huge gathering at
the University campus.


Parveer
Ranjan (IPS), Director General of Police, Chandigarh UT, graced the occasion as
the Chief Guest at the celebrations, during which the BSF team put up a
stunning display and showcased their skills.

In a
captivating sight, rows of uniformed bike riders standing in perfect coordination
perched on Royal Enfield bullets left the spectators astonished. The intrepid manoeuvre
like Neck Riding, Fish Riding, Janbaz Jump, Adventure Jump, Pole Exercise, Head
Stand, Back Riding, Back Rider Ladder, Side Riding, T Position, Five Man, Chest
Jump, Musical Ride, and Tube Light Jump etc were performed by the dare devils
under the command of team captain Inspector Awadesh Kumar Singh.

Chancellor,
Chandigarh University, S. Satnam Singh Sandhu and Vice Chancellor Dr Anand
Agrawal, P V Rama Sastry (IPS), ADG BSF, Western Command, Chandigarh, Sham
Kapoor, DIG (Administration), Headquarter, SDG, Western Command, Amaninder Kaur
Brar, ADC, SAS Nagar, and Sandeep Chanan, DIG, various dignitaries of UT
Administration, Chandigarh, and Punjab Government, NCC Cadets from Tricity,
people from SAS Nagar, Mohali, students and Staff members of Chandigarh
University were present on the occasion.

DGP Ranjan,
the Chief Guest at the occasion, commended the brave jawans for their
self-determination, mental alertness, unparalleled courage, physical strength
and excellence in handling motorcycles and wished the team success for their
future efforts.

“Our country
is safe today only due to the sacrifices of our heroic jawans. The BSF has a
glorious tradition of defending India’s borders, irrespective of fog, storms,
rains or severe winters,” said the police chief.

Speaking on
the occasion, Chancellor, Chandigarh University, S. Satnam Singh Sandhu saluted
the contribution of Border Security Forces.

“The BSF has
made the most significant contribution in the protection of India’s sovereignty,
even by the sacrificing the life of its soldiers. Our Jawans are at the
forefront of humanitarian assistance in times of crisis and natural calamities
besides guarding the borders come what may. Through its ever growing NCC wing, Chandigarh
University is also preparing the future soldiers for the country, even as many
of our students are serving as officers in the Indian Army,” said Sandhu.
Earlier, Sham Kapoor, DIG (Administration), Headquarter, SDG, Western Command,
spoke about the outstanding contribution of DGP Chandigarh in keeping the city
and the surrounding areas safe and secure besides elaborating about BSF Janbaz
Motoreycle Team and its performances.

He informed that
the team has the honour of setting 17 world records for various events and
getting their names itched in the Limca Book of World Records, Asia Book of
World Records, London Book of World Records etc.

A special
performance by the Bhangra team of Chandigarh University was also a major
attraction during the celebrations.
