A Comparative Analysis of Bio-Politics in India and China |
A paper by Ashok Gurram, a PhD scholar at the Department of Political Science titled, “Biometric (Data) Governance and Digital Surveillance: A Comparative Analysis of Bio-Politics in India and China” has been accepted for presentation during the AGOPOL Online Conference on Diffusion of Policing in the Algorithmic Society, being organized by Algorithmic Research Governance Network in collaboration with Utrecht University, Netherlands, and College of International and Public Relations, Czech Republic, and Oslo Metropolitan University, Norway. This conference is scheduled on 18th November, 2022 and all the selected researchers/scholars across the globe will participate through Zoom.

Gurram’s paper deals with the operational aspects of Michel Foucault’s Biopolitics, and the convergence of the Biometric (Data) governance in India and China in the view of rising surveillance capitalism and digitization of public service delivery systems and market services in the Asian nations.

Gurram Ashok has submitted his PhD titled, “Decoding the Politics of Technology and Welfare: A Study of Aadhaar based Services in Telangana State” under the supervision of Dr. D. Veerababu at the Department of Political Science, School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad. He has published research articles on Michel Foucault’s Biopolitics, Governmentality, Digital Governance, and Health policies in UGC-Care listed and Scopus indexed journals.
