Sports to be introduced as a separate subject in Maharashtra State Secondary Education Board

The Maharashtra State Secondary Education Board has decided to introduce sports as a separate subject in HSC and SSC. The new subject will be named “ Sports and Physical Education” and will be optional to SSC and HSC students in the academic year 2012 - 2013. The valuable 25 marks which is awarded to students participating actively in sports was being misused by a lot of other students who wanted to gain those 25 marks to increase rank.

The proposal is still pending with the government.

The overall championship under Higher Secondary School category was bagged by Dempo Higher Secondary School of Commerce with 175 points and the overall championship under College category was bagged by Dhempe College of Arts and Science with 171 points.
