IIT entrance examination going online ?

After CAT it is the turn of IIT's to go online for conducting Joint Entrance Examination. They are yet to check the feasibility of the online test. IIT Delhi has invited all IIT directors to attend a workshop where the online model will be demonstrated. Education Testing Services ( ETS ) will be making a presentation and presenting in the workshop.

The fate of online IIT entrance exam is yet to be decided. Online CAT examination too faced problems at the start before it got stabilized later. IIT directors are still in a fix as the entrance examination requires lots of calculations and rough work so going online may not work.

But in the coming future when everything is on the web , IIT' may decide to go online depending on the feasibility.

    Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), has issued the admit cards for IIT-JEE Main Exam 2014. Students can download their admin cards from official website: IIT Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main is conducted for admission to engineering degree courses at Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and several major colleges and universities. CBSE has advised students to check important informations such as signature, photo and such details on their admit card.     IIT Kanpur to hold its own entrance in 2013

    In a clear case of revolt against Kapil Sibal's decision to merge IIT Joint Entrance Exam (IIT-JEE) with All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), Indian Institute of (IIT) Kanpur has announced that it will conduct its own entrance exam in 2013. "The recent IIT Council proposal on admissions to IITs is academically and methodically unsound and in violation of the Institutes of Technology Act (1961) and IIT Kanpur Ordinances (Ordinance 3.2 (Admissions)," said the IIT Kanpur committee members.
  • Problem of Vacant seats waiting to be addressed by IIT's

    Joint Admission Board ( JAB) of IIT for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) has addressed a few issues leaving the problem of vacant seats. Seats in IIT remains vacant for two reasons 1) The candidate reserves the seat by paying the initial amount and not turning later. 2) The candidate leaves the course in the mid semester thus leading to vacancy. IIT's solved their problem in 2009 – 2010 by calling students for second round of admission. They have also called students for third round of admission in the year 2011.

  • NR Narayana Murthy comments on Quality of students at IIT's

    NR Narayan Murthy, chairman, Infosys says “Quality of students is deteriorating at IIT's”. According to him the problem is due to coaching institutes which prepares a candidate for selective problems which are asked in IIT entrance test. This helps in clearing the entrance test but leads to poor performance in educational and employment front. The candidates who works hard and learn all types of problem solving techniques does better than a coached candidate.
