National Centre for Cell Sciences (NCCS), Pune

The National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS) took birth as National Tissue Culture Facility in March 11, 1986 with a mandate of basic research, teaching & training, and as a national repository for cell lines/hybridomas etc. The centre is located in the midst of academically enriched environment of University of Pune campus, Pune. During its transformation, the centre has undergone several changes to facilitate achievement of its goals. The centre has expanded its scientific charter to strengthen basic research in the areas of cancer biology, cell biology, immunology, genomics and proteomics.The National Centre for Cell Sciences, Pune (NCCS) was established as a National Repository of Animal Cell Culture with a mandate of basic research, teaching & training, and as a national repository for cell lines/ hybridomas etc. It also conducts manpower development in animal tissue culture through training programmes/workshops and extends infrastructural facilities to researchers and institutions in biochemical sciences.

The vision of NCCS is to accelerate research in modern biology to create new knowledge and technologies for human welfare. This will be achieved through (i) basic research in modern biology (ii) human resources development and (iii) serving as national cell repository.

    National Centre for Cell Sciences (NCCS), Pune invites applications for PhD for the year 2014 - 15. PhD Admission is conducted by National Centre for Cell Sciences (NCCS), Pune. PhD Eligibility Criteria: Interested candidates should fulfill following eligibility criteria: => Should have Masters (postgraduate) degree in any branch of Science with interest in pursuing research in Modern Biology and having at least 50% or equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA) and with a valid fellowship from CSIR/DBT/ICMR/UGC/ DST-Inspire /BINC, etc.
