Psychology is the study of the mind and behavior. Research in psychology seeks to understand and explain thought, emotion, and behavior. Psychology is used in mental health treatment, performance enhancement, self-help, ergonomics, and many other areas affecting health and daily life. Psychology includes development, personality, thoughts, feelings, emotions, motivations, and social behaviors.

The majority of psychologists are practicing in clinical, counseling, school settings, industrial and organizational settings, and areas such as human development and aging, sports, health, and the media, as well as in forensic investigation.

Psychologist investigates various phenomena to diagnose a problems such as: learning and memory, sensation and perception, motivation and emotion, thinking and language, personality and social behavior, intelligence, child development, mental illness etc.

Branches of psychology are - Clinical psychology, Cognitive psychology: memory, Cognitive psychology: intelligence, Developmental psychology, Evolutionary psychology, Forensic psychology, Health psychology, Neuropsychology, Occupational psychology & Social psychology.
