About Government College Autonomous, Mandya

The Government College, Mandya was established in the year 1948 and since then it is copiously catering to the educational needs of the rural students. The Government of Karnataka has been generously providing for higher education in the rural areas to ensure social justice to our college is endeavoring with heart and soul to best fulfill this noble ambition of the Government. In recent years this college has become co-educational and also a Post Graduate Center. This has brought higher education to close proximity to all deserving rural students.

Infrastructure and Learning Resources:

The college can boast of its vast building structure located strategically on the state highway but aloof from the busy road by about 200 m. The college is having four blocks including the recently constructed block.

•  Teaching and learning in the college is carried out in such a way that the students get a thorough grounding in the subjects they have selected. Quality and academic excellence have been given importance in teaching.
• Seminars and special lectures are arranged to supplement the learning in the classroom.
• Latest editions of reference and text books, journals are procured to the library.
• Most of the class rooms are equipped with LCD projector and other ICT equipments to make teaching more effective and comprehensive.
• Inclusion of elective papers have helped the students to study inter disciplinary subjects.
• To create awareness about environment and constitution, Environmental Science and Indian Constitution subjects are included as compulsory subjects in the curriculum.
• The research projects are also made compulsory for the students which help in orienting students towards higher education and R & D.
