    St. Martha’s School of Nursing, a unit of St. Martha’s hospital, was started in 1933 and upgraded to College of Nursing in1998. The students passed out from the portals of St. Martha’s have spread the aroma of healing to various corners of the world. Though geographically spread apart, yet they are connected through the umbilical cord of Alma Matter – Let your light shine!! This desire to strengthen the connectivity, the bond that prevailed beyond caste, creed, religion, language, state and country; the alumni association was started in the year 2003, by then Principal, Sr. Anne Marie Fernandes. It was proved to be an excellent forum where the past students could share their memories and experience, cherish the love and care and enrich one another.

    The year 2003 has been the most eventful year for Alumni of the College of Nursing, St. Martha’s Hospital. The First Alumni Association Get-together happened on May 31, 2003. Alumni Members from both Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery Course & B.Sc. Nursing Degree Course from different parts of our Country as well as abroad attended the Programme. The Get-together created a dynamic link between the Institution & Alumni.St. Martha’s Hospital was started in the year 1886 by Sisters of the Good Shepherd, a Congregation founded by St. MARY EUPHRASIA PELLITIER, in 1835 in ANGERS, FRANCE. It is an International congregation present in 74 countries with its Generalate in Rome. The congregation established its foundation in India in the year 1854 August 15th.

    The Charism of the congregation is to share the compassionate love of Jesus the Good Shepherd to those at the margins of the society especially with women and children. In India, the sisters work in nine states, expressing the Charism through education, health care, social work, care homes for street children, orphan babies, un-wed mothers and young girls, crisis intervention center, training and rehabilitation of migrants, child laborers and sex workers, prison ministry and pro-life.
    Health care is provided through the portals of St. Martha’s Hospital and dispensaries in remote villages.

    St. Martha’s Hospital began in 1886 on a piece of land gifted by the then Maharaja of Mysore in appreciation of the services rendered by the sisters of the Good Shepherd, during a time of famine and plague.
    St. Martha’s Hospital, a charitable institution, has been touching the lives of thousands of people for the last 130 long years. The institution stands out as a hall mark of medical service and education in our country and is committed to bring compassionate healthcare to the economically weaker sections and those at the margins of society.

    School of Nursing was started in 1933 and upgraded to College of Nursing in1998. Since its inception, it has trained thousands of nurses whose outstanding skills and competence have won praise not only in India but in several countries abroad.
