Karnataka CET 2017 Exam Dates, Application Form, Eligibility Criteria

The Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) is being conducted for the purpose of determining the eligibility/ merit, for admission of Karnataka candidates and the ward/s of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants to the First year or First semester of full time courses for Government share of seats in Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Unani, Naturopathy & Yoga, Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Farm Science courses in Government /University / Private Aided / Private Un-Aided Professional Educational Institutions in the State of Karnataka for the academic year.

In order to obtain admission to any of the professional courses through KEA, a candidate must appear for the Common Entrance Test, which will be conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority, Bangalore (Hereinafter referred to as KEA). The Common Entrance Test (CET) will be conducted at 54
places, spread over Karnataka Candidates who have passed or are appearing for Qualifying Examination within Karnataka should write 'CET-2016' in a test centre assigned by the KEAwithin the district in which the candidate has studied 2nd PUC or 12th standard.

An exact number of seats offered through KCET 2017 for admission 2017-2018 will be announced after the result is declared. Last year’s seat matrix published for the first round of counselling is given below. This will give you an idea of the scale at which the Karnataka CET 2017 will be held.

Eligibility Criteria

- No candidate shall be eligible for admission to Government Seats unless he is a citizen of India

- A candidate who is appearing in the qualifying examination, i.e., 2nd PUC / 12th Standard in academic year whose result is awaited, may apply and appear for Common Entrance Test (CET) but he/she shall not be eligible for admission to any of the course specified in item 5 at page 13-14, if he/she does not pass the qualifying examination with the required pass percentage of marks.

- The educational qualifications / eligibility criteria prescribed by the Competent Authority in regulations / guidelines issued from time to time will be applicable in deciding the eligibility.

- Eligibility / admissions / allotments made to and by the colleges shall be subject to approval by MCI / DCI / AICTE / COA / CCIM / Government / concerned University / Apex Bodies / etc.

MBBS
- Passed in 2nd PUC / 12th Std / Equivalent Exam with English as one of the Languages and obtained a Minimum of 50% of Marks in aggregate in Physics,
Chemistry, Biology subjects. (Aggregate of three) (40% for SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B category candidates)

- In CET- Examination Minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate in PCB Subjects (40% for SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B category candidates)

BDS
- Passed in 2nd PUC / 12th Std / Equivalent Exam with English as one of the Languages and obtained a Minimum of 50% of Marks in aggregate in Physics,
Chemistry, Biology subjects. (Aggregate of three) (40% for SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B category candidates).

- In CET- Examination Minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate in PCB Subjects (40% for SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B category candidates)

Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Unani, Naturopathy and Yoga (ISM & H)
- Passed in 2nd PUC / 12th Std / Equivalent Exam with English as one of the Languages and obtained a Minimum of 50% of Marks in aggregate in Physics,
Chemistry, Biology subjects. (Aggregate of three) (40% for SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B category candidates)

Engineering / Technology (B.E. / B.Tech)
- Passed in 2nd PUC / 12th Std / Equivalent Exam with English as one of the Languages and obtained a Minimum of 45% of Marks in aggregate in Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Biology / Electronics / Computer. (40% for SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B category candidates)

Architecture (B.Arch)
- Passed in 2nd PUC / 12th Std / Equivalent Exam with Mathematics as Compulsory optional subject and obtained a Minimum of 50% of Marks in aggregate in all the subjects. (45% for SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B category candidates)

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc)
- Passed in 2nd PUC / 12th Std / Equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology as optional subjects.

Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.)
- Passed in 2nd PUC / 12th Std. and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English subjects. (Aggregate of four) (40% for SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B category candidates)

B-Pharma
- Passed in 2nd PUC / 12th Std with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and obtained a Minimum of 45% of Marks in
aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Biology subjects. (40% for SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B,3A and 3B category candidates. OR

- Passed in Diploma in Pharmacy Examination from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India Under Section 12 of the Pharmacy Act and has secured the minimum of 45% marks. (40% for SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B category candidates.

2nd Year B. Pharma
- Passed in Diploma in Pharmacy Examination from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India Under Section 12 of the Pharmacy Act and has secured the minimum of 45% marks. (40% for SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B category candidates.

Pharma-D
Passed in 2nd PUC / 12th Std with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics OR Passed in Diploma in Pharmacy Examination from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India Under Section 12 of the Pharmacy Act.

How to Apply

Step 1:
- Candidate download the e-brochure from KEA Website http://kea.kar.nic.in and read the instructions carefully before start entering the application online. Enter all the details

- ONLINE by browsing URL on web http://kea.kar.nic.in by selecting “CET UG Online Application”. After completion of entry of all the details candidate’s will receive an application ID and Password to their registered mobile phone number and to email address and also the same information will be displayed on the screen.

Step 2:
- Upload the scanned copy of recent passport size Colour Photograph, Signature and Left Hand Thumb Impression in JPG / JPEG format separately.

Step 3:
- Print the Challan copy which is in triplicate. Candidates of Karnataka origin have to pay an amount of Rs. 650/- for General and OBC (Rs.500/- for SC / ST Category-1 of Karnataka candidates only). Rs.750/- in the case of candidates residing outside the state of Karnataka and Rs.5,000/- in the case of candidates residing outside India.

- The candidates have to pay the requisite fee in any of the branches of the Banks prescribed. The bank will retain bank copy of the Challan and handover the remaining two copies of the Challan to the candidates. The candidates who are residing outside India shall pay the fees in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour of Executive Director, Karnataka Examinations Authority, payable at Bangalore, the demand draft should be sent to KEA address by mentioning the application number.

Step 4:
- Take a printout of the application form on A-4 Size paper. Obtain Principal seal and signature from the college where you have studied 2nd PUC or 12th Standard on the space provided in the printed form. The same copy should be produced during document verification.

Note: Candidates should note down their application ID and Password until the completion of filling of the online application. The candidate has to enter all the required details in the form, failing which their application will not be considered. Applications without Photo and signature will not be considered as valid. Candidates are not allowed to edit their application after selecting declaration / taking the final printout.

For General and OBC Rs. 650/-
For SC / ST Category-1 of Karnataka candidates only Rs. 500/-
Candidates residing outside the state of Karnataka Rs.750/-
Candidates residing outside India Rs.5,000/-

Syllabus

The question papers of the Common Entrance Test will be based on the First and Second PUC syllabi prescribed by the Department of Pre-University Education of Karnataka State.

Paper Pattern

The Common Entrance Test will be held on TWO days in FOUR different sessions for four subjects. On the first day, the test will be conducted for Biology and Mathematics subjects in two sessions and on the next day test will be conducted for Physics and Chemistry subjects in two sessions as per the date and time notified. Each paper / subject will be conducted for 60 marks each with a duration of 80 minutes.

Each question paper will be of Multiple Choice Questions (Objective) type. The question paper in each subject will be in 16 different versions and each question will have four different options. Each question will carry ONE mark. The candidate is expected to attempt all the questions, in order to obtain maximum marks. In other words, there is no choice of questions. THERE WILL BE NO NEGATIVE EVALUATION WITH REGARD TO WRONG / INCORRECT ANSWERS BUT MARKS WILL NOT BE AWARDED IN RESPECT OF MULTIPLE ANSWERS for the same question. The version code of the question paper will be boldly printed on facing sheet of the question paper.

Admit Card / Hall Ticket

Admit card download from university website.

The candidate should also download hall ticket from University official website.

The candidate should verify all the information in the admit card. If any issue is found, then get it corrected with the concerned authority.

The candidates are required to carry the admit card to the examination hall. Without it, you will not be allowed to enter the examination hall. It is also very important to document for the further admission processes.

Results

As per the merit determined by the KEA, the Medical / Dental, ISM & H, Engineering, Architecture, Farm Science, B-Pharm and Pharm-D ranks will be assigned to the eligible candidates. Separate result sheets showing the Medical / Dental, ISM & H, Engineering, Architecture, Farm science, B-Pharm and Pharm-D ranks will be published on last week of May 2017 on KEA Website http://kea.kar.nic.in.
