It not only assesses the technical knowledge of candidates but also their problem-solving, analytical, and logical skills. GATE scores play a crucial role in admissions to postgraduate programs like M.Tech, ME, MS, and direct PhD in renowned institutes.

Core Subjects in Engineering

GATE covers an array of core engineering subjects. Some of the prominent ones include:

Mechanical Engineering

This section evaluates candidates’ knowledge of mechanics, thermodynamics, manufacturing processes, and more.

Computer Science and Information Technology

Here, candidates’ understanding of programming, algorithms, database management, and computer networks is put to the test.

Electrical Engineering

This section assesses knowledge of electrical circuits, control systems, power systems, and electromagnetic fields.

Civil Engineering

Candidates’ grasp of structural engineering, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, and water resources is evaluated.
