IIT Guwahati Admissions
Eligibility
Undergraduate Admissions
- Indian nationals who have cleared the JEE (Advanced) examination are eligible to apply.
- Candidates must have secured at least 75% marks in their Class 12 board examinations, or be in the top 20 percentile of their respective board.
- Reserved category candidates must have secured at least 65% marks in their Class 12 board examinations, or be in the top 20 percentile of their respective board.
Postgraduate admissions
- Indian nationals who have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized university are eligible to apply.
- Candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in their Bachelor’s degree examination.
- Reserved category candidates must have secured at least 55% marks in their Bachelor’s degree examination.
Ph.D. admissions
- Indian nationals who have a Master’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized university are eligible to apply.
- Candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in their Master’s degree examination.
- Reserved category candidates must have secured at least 55% marks in their Master’s degree examination.

Undergraduate Admissions
- JEE (Advanced) examination: June 18
- JoSAA registration: June 21-26
- JoSAA seat allocation: June 28-30
- JoSAA document verification: July 4-7
Postgraduate admissions
- GATE examination: February 4-5 and 11-12
- CCMT registration: August 4-9
- CCMT seat allocation: August 11-13
- CCMT document verification: August 16-18
Ph.D. admissions
- Online application portal opens: October 15
- Online application portal closes: November 30
- Written entrance test and interview: December 15-18
Application
Candidates can apply for admission to IIT Guwahati online through the respective admission portals. The application portals will open on the dates mentioned above.
Undergraduate Admissions
- Candidates must first register for the JEE (Advanced) examination.
- Once they have registered for the JEE (Advanced) examination, they will be able to access the JoSAA registration portal.
- Candidates must register on the JoSAA registration portal and fill out the application form.
- After filling out the application form, candidates must upload their required documents.
- Once they have uploaded their required documents, they must submit the application form.
Postgraduate admissions
- Candidates must first register for the GATE examination.
- Once they have registered for the GATE examination, they will be able to access the CCMT registration portal.
- Candidates must register on the CCMT registration portal and fill out the application form.
- After filling out the application form, candidates must upload their required documents.
- Once they have uploaded their required documents, they must submit the application form.
Fees
The admission fees for IIT Guwahati vary depending on the program to which the candidate is applying. The following table shows the approximate admission fees for the different programs:
