Prof. Madan S. Jagtap a great visionary observed that the students from rural part of Satara district are very much in need of quality professional education and anticipated the need of education to all classes of people of Satara district and near ones. So he thought of establishing an education society with an aim to give quality education to needy, down trodden and poor ones. This dream came into reality by the establishment of Gourishankar Education Society, Satara on 27th May, 1993 under the guidance of Ex M.L.A. Hon’ble Shri Keshavraoji Patil as President of society. Gourishankar Education Society is an organization with a culture of unity in diversity. During the short tenure, the society has taken splendid strides in academic world and soon this society will be at highest rank furnishing education in all branches and to one and all.In the year 1996, the society started the College for Livestock Management, College of fine arts, KALA MAHAVIDYALAYA, SATARA, which is presently a well renowned institute in the area.
Being a pharmacy graduate, it was the vision of Hon’ble chairman, Prof. M. S. Jagtap to cater the quality technical education in pharmacy field. So, in the year 1999, the society established the B.Pharmacy course at Degaon, Satara and subsequently in the year 2003, the society was successful in starting two diploma courses in pharmacy. Diploma course in Pharmacy at Degaon and Phatkhal Matha at Satara, are running successfully and has established its name in record time. Society has got the permission to start the post graduate course in Pharmacy ( M.Pharm. Pharmaceutics) form this year at Satara College of Pharmacy,Satara.The society is also running the college of DMLT at Satara and Phaltan. Looking at the need, the society has also started Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Lab. Technology in 2004.
