University of Calcutta, Kolkata invites applications for admissions to Admission to Post- Graduate Diploma in Buddhist Studies (PGDBS) for the academic year 2015 - 16.

Post- Graduate Diploma in Buddhist Studies (PGDBS) is conducted by University of Calcutta, Kolkata

Duration: one-year Self-Financing Evening course

Intake: 20 (Twenty)

Eligibility Criteria:

Interested candidates should fulfill following eligibility criteria:
=> Graduate or its equivalent in any stream from any University recognised by C.U.

Forms available in the University Sales Counter, Asutosh Building, Ground Floor, College Street Campus, 87/1, College Street, Kolkata – 700073 on
payment of Rs. 200/- from 1st June’2015.

=> Course Fee – 6000/- for each Semester
=> Admission Fee – 1000/- for 1st Semester
=> Last date of submission of forms – 30th June’2015
=> Date of Viva-voce – 1st July’2015
=> Date of Admission – 3rd July’ 2015
=> Commencement of Classes – 6th July’ 2015

FIRST SEMESTER
COURSE – I (100 Marks)
FIRST HALF => CANONICAL & NON-CANONICAL PALI LITERATURE.
SECOND HALF => MIXED SANSKRIT BUDDHIST LITERATURE & PURE SANSKRIT BUDDHIST LITERATURE.

COURSE – II (100 Marks)
FIRST HALF => BUDDHIST RELIGION & PHILOSOPHY.
SECOND HALF => BUDDHIST TANTRA.
SECOND SEMESTER

COURSE – III (100 Marks)
FIRST HALF => BUDDHIST EPIGRAPHY.
SECOND HALF => BUDDHIST ART, ICONOGRAPHY & ARCHAEOLOGY.

COURSE – IV (100 Marks)
FIRST HALF => BUDDHISM OUTSIDE INDIA.
SECOND HALF => DISSERTATION and VIVA-VOCE.
