Tata Institute of Fundamental Research announces PhD Programs Admission 2016

Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai invites applications for admissions to PhD Programs for the academic year 2016.

PhD Programs is conducted by Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai

Courses Offered:

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in
=> Mathematics,
=> Physics,
=> Chemistry,
=> Biology,
=> Computer and System Sciences & Science Education
=> integrated Ph.D programs

Eligibility Criteria:

Interested candidates should fulfill following eligibility criteria:

Ph.D Mathematics Program:
=> Candidates should have M.A./M.Sc./M.Tech degree.

Integrated Ph.D Mathematics Program:
=> B.A./B.Sc./B.E./B.Tech. (Students already /completing an M.Sc. degree by July 2016 are not eligible).

Ph.D Physics Program:
=> Candidates should have M.Sc./M.S. in Physics, or equivalent, on completion of program of duration not less than 5 years in total.

Integrated Ph.D Physics Program:
Candidates should have M.E./M.Tech./B.Sc./B.S./B.E./ B.Tech./B.Chem. in Physics, Engineering Physics, or equivalent degree, on completion of program (s) of duration not less than 3 years in total. Any other degree in Science / Engineering / Medicine, or equivalent, on completion of program(s) of duration not less than 3 years in total. In addition, integrated Ph.D Physics candidates with four or more years of university education who clear the written test may be considered by TCIS for their Ph.D program.

Students from remote areas who do not have access to internet may apply manually. Important Dates:

PhD Programs Important dates section aims to list all important dates such as date of availability of form, last submission date, result date, counselling date, etc.

  • Last Date of Submission of Application Form: 7th October, 2015
  • Date of Examination PhD Programs 2015: 13th December, 2015

Selection Process:

Provisional selections to in all subjects, except Science Education will be based on TIFR Nationwide Entrance Examination (GS2016) conducted by University followed by interviews of shortlisted candidates.
