Rabindra Bharati University (RBU) Kolkata announces Admission for Languages Courses for the Session 2024. Interested candidates are invited to apply for the Certificate Course Level-I, a 6-month program in Languages under the School of Languages & Culture of the University for the Academic Year 2023-24.
About Rabindra Bharati University:
Founded on May 8, 1962, under the Rabindra Bharati Act, Rabindra Bharati University is located at the residential house of poet Rabindranath Tagore in Kolkata. The university was established to commemorate the birth centenary of Rabindranath Tagore. It is a State University dedicated to advancing learning and culture, particularly in the fields of music, dance, and drama. Named after Tagore, the university serves the mission of disseminating his thoughts and ideas through humanities, social sciences, art, and culture. Rabindra Bharati University is unique in projecting itself as a center for higher learning in performing arts, fine arts, language, literature, and social sciences.

Courses Offered:
- Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Functional Bengali, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Sanskrit, Santali, Spanish, Tamil, Tibetan, Urdu
Important Dates:
- Admission forms may be collected from 22nd November 2023 to 22nd December 2023
- Date of Admission: 12.00 noon to 03.30 pm 22nd November to 22nd December 2023
- Commencement of classes: January 2024
Eligibility Criteria:
- Minimum Qualifications for admission – Madhyamik passed or equivalent (for admission in Santali, Functional Bengali, English courses) and Higher Secondary /Equivalent passed for other language courses
Class Timings:
- Late Afternoons/Evenings, two days a week, including Saturday/Sunday for certain language courses
Application Procedure:
- Candidates need to submit the duly filled application form along with required documents at the time of admission.
- Application forms can be collected from 22nd November to 22nd December 2023 from the Office of the School of Languages and Culture, Rabindra Bharati University (Room No: 400, New Building), Emerald Bower Campus, 56A, B.T. Road, Kolkata-700050, from 12.00 p.m. to 04.00 p.m., Monday to Friday (except University holidays).
Course Fees:
- For Indian Citizens Only Rs. 3000/- (for English and Foreign Language courses) each level: and Rs. 2300/- (for Indian Language courses) each level, all-inclusive
