National Institute of Foundry & Forge Technology ( NIFFT ), Ranchi invites applications for admissions to Phd and ADC for the academic year 2015 - 16.

Phd and ADC Admission is conducted by National Institute of Foundry & Forge Technology ( NIFFT ), Ranchi

Courses Offered:

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
Advanced Diploma Course (ADC - 3 Semesters/18 months)

Scholarship & Stipend

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD): Rs.18000/- per month for the first two years and Rs 20,000/- per month for the 3rd and 4th year for candidates admitted with Institute scholarship; however scholarship may be enhanced as per MHRD norms.

Advanced Diploma Course (ADC): Rs.2500/- per month for all selected candidates; no scholarship for sponsored candidates.

Phd and ADC Eligibility Criteria:

Interested candidates should fulfill following eligibility criteria:

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD):
=> M.E/M.Tech from a recognized Institute/University in Mechanical, Metallurgy & Materials Engineering, Production, Manufacturing Engineering and allied disciplines with a least 6.5 CGPA (or 60% marks) in aggregate (or)

=> B.E/B.Tech or its equivalent from a recognized Institute/University in Mechanical, Metallurgy & Materials Engineering, Production, Manufacturing Engineering and allied disciplines with at least 7.5 CGPA (or 70% marks) in aggregate

Advanced Diploma Course (ADC):
=> Diploma in Automobile / Metallurgical / Mechanical / Production / Manufacturing Engineering / B. Sc. Degree with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with 50% marks.

=> In all programmes, a relaxation of 0.5 CGPA (or 5% marks) is allowed for candidates belonging to the SC/ST category.

=> Those appearing in the final qualifying exam may also apply; however, such candidates will have to produce all the relevant documents within 60 days from the date of admission.

Application Procedure for Phd and ADC:

The application forms and information brochure can be obtained by sending requisite application fee, in the form of demand draft drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favor of National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology payable at Ranchi along with a self-addressed, stamped (Rs.40/-) envelope of 28 x 16 cm size, to the Dean (Academic).

The application forms and information brochure can also be obtained in person from the academic section of the Institute by producing demand draft towards application fee.

Fee Details:

Application Fee PhD - Rs.1000/- for General/OBC and Rs.500/- for SC/ST and ADC - Rs.500/- for General/OBC and Rs.250/- for SC/ST

Phd and ADC Important Dates:

Phd and ADC Important dates section aims to list all important dates such as date of availability of form, last submission date, result date, counselling date, etc.

  • Issue of applications: 24th April 2015 to 08th June 2015
  • Last Date for Online Registration: 30th May 2015 by 05.30 PM
  • Phd and ADC 2015 Admit Card: 28th June 2015 (Sunday, 10.00 am to 01.00 pm)
  • Declaration of Phd and ADC 2015 Results: 15th July 2015

Selection Process:

Results will be announced on {date}.

About NIFFT: In consonance with the general guidelines of UNESCO (1962) regarding establishment of specialized institutes, National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology (NIFFT) was created in 1966 under the UNDP program to cater to the need of a large number of technicians. The particular emphasis was on Foundry and Forge technology to meet the demand of trained manpower in the primary metal manufacturing sectors like automobile, heavy engineering, machine and component manufacturing etc. Two carefully designed advanced diploma courses, namely Foundry and Forge technology were offered.
