Mahatma Gandhi University is situated in Nalgonda town, approximately 90 kilometers away from Hyderabad. It is dedicated to fostering academic excellence and aims to cultivate and nurture human resources in line with evolving trends. The establishment of this university aligns with the vision of the Andhra Pradesh government to facilitate accessibility, equity, and inclusiveness in education.
Renamed by the Andhra Pradesh government, the university is now known as Mahatma Gandhi University, following an amendment to the Schedule of Act 4 of 1991.
