Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (KTET) October 2015 Notification and Exam Date

 

Kerala Government invites applications for admissions to Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (KTET) for the academic year 2015 - 16.

KTET is an yearly exam conducted for select teachers for Category I (Lower Primary Classes) Category II (Upper Primary Classes) Category III (High School Classes) and Category IV (for Language Teachers - Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu (up to UP classes), Specialist Teachers (Art & Crafts) and Physical Education Teachers.

Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (KTET) Exam is conducted by Kerala Government.

KTET 2015 Categories:

1. Category I: Teachers for Lower Primary Classes
2. Category II: Teachers for Upper Primary Classes
3. Category III: Teachers for High School Classes
4. Category IV: Language Teachers, Specialist Teachers and Physical Education Teachers

Eligibility Criteria:

Interested candidates should fulfill following eligibility criteria:

The rationale for including the TET as a minimum qualification for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher is as under.

=> It would bring national standards and benchmark of teacher quality in the recruitment process;

=> It would induce teacher education institutions and students from these institutions to improve their performance and standards.

=> It would send a positive signal to all stakeholders that the Government lays special emphasis on teacher quality.

=> Qualifying in the Teacher Eligibility Test is mandatory to ensure that persons recruited as teachers possess the essential aptitude and ability tomeet the challenges of teaching at all levels.

=> A person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher in any of the schools approved by the Department of General Education, Government of Kerala has to qualify the ‘Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test’ (K-TET).

=> There is no age limit prescribed for candidates appearing for K-TET.

=> those who intends to be a teacher for Lower Primary classes and fulfills the minimum educational qualification categories - Category I, Category II , Category III & Category IV

Category I: Teachers for Lower Primary Classes
=> Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and two year Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) [by whatever name
known] conducted by Board of Examination, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent. OR

=> Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in
accordance with NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations 2002. OR

=> Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) OR

=> Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2 year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

Category II: Teachers for Upper Primary Classes
=> B.A/B.Sc./B.Com. and 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education/Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) [by whatever name known] conducted by Board of
Examination, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent. OR

=> B.A/B.Sc/B.Com with at least 45% marks and 1 year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.), in accordance with NCTE (Recognition, Norms and Procedure) regulations issued from time to time in this regard. OR

=> Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) OR

=> Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 year B.A / B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed or B.Sc.Ed.

Category III: Teachers for High School Classes

Those who possess minimum educational qualifications as delineated here under areeligible to appear for K-TET III. The test is for HSAs in: (i) Malayalam (ii) English (iii) Hindi (iv) Sanskrit (v) Tamil (vi) Kannada (vii) Arabic (viii) Urdu (ix) Social Science (x) Physical Science (xi) Natural Science and (xii) Mathematics

=> BA/BSc/B.Com with at least 45% marks and a B.Ed. Degree in the subject concerned (from any one of the Universities in Kerala or have acquired
these qualifications from any other Universities recognized as equivalent thereto.)

=> For Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology, those who have MSc.Ed. Degree in the subject concerned with not less than 50% marks from one of the Regional Institutes of Education sponsored by NCERT will be eligible to apply. For Botany and Zoology subjects, those with MSc.Ed. Degree in Life Science with not less than 50% marks from any of the Regional Institutes of Education are eligible to apply

Category IV: Language Teachers, Specialist Teachers and Physical Education Teachers
=> Those who have acquired qualifications for the posts of Language Teachers of Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit & Urdu (up to Upper Primary level),
Specialist teachers & Physical Education teachers as mentioned in Chapter XXXI of KERALA EDUCATION ACT AND RULES are eligible to apply for K-TET IV.

Application Procedure:

Candidates are advised to refer to official notifications /documents for detailed application procedure. IndCareer.com published details for informational purpose.

=> Before applying online candidates should scan the copies of photograph

=> Applications should be submitted to Pareeksha Bhavan only through online.

=> Printout of the application, chalan and copies of the certificates need not be sent to Pareeksha Bhavan.

=> The candidate should take a printout of the application before confirming and verify the details given in the online application.

=> Corrections if any required should be made before confirming the application.

=> No correction of Name, Category and subject chosen will be allowed after confirmation of the application.

=> The Procedure for sending application and remitting fee is given in detail in the Prospectus.

=> Candidates can choose the Educational district for the examination while filling the application

Fee Details:

The Exam fee is Rs.500/-(Rupees Five Hundred only) for each category. Fee for SC/ST and differently abled categories is Rs.250/- (Rupees Two Hundred and Fifty only)

Important Dates:

KTET Important dates section aims to list all important dates such as date of availability of form, last submission date, result date, counselling date, etc.

  • Online registration starts: 10th August 2015
  • Last Date for Online Registration Step-I : 24th August 2015
  • Last Date for Online Registration Step-II : 24th August 2015
  • KTET 2015 Admit Card: 15th September 2015 onwards
  • Date of Examination KTET 2015: 03rd October 2015 - 17th October 2015 Saturday

Question Papers

Paper Pattern for Category-I:
There will be only one paper in this category. All questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with four distractors. Each question carries one mark. There will be four alternatives out of which one will be the correct answer. The total number of MCQsshall be 150
1) Child Development and Pedagogy (relevant to age group 6-11) /Mathematics/Environmental Studies: 30 (MCQs), 30 (Marks)
2) Language-I: Malayalam/Tamil/Kannada: 30 (MCQs), 30 (Marks)
3) Language-II: English /Arabic* 30 (MCQs), 30 (Marks)

Paper Pattern for Category-II:
There will be only one paper in this category. All questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with four distracters. Each question carries one mark. There will be four alternatives out of which one will be the correct answer. The total number of MCQs shall be 150
1) Child Development and Pedagogy (relevant to age group 11-14): 30 (MCQs); 30 (Marks)
a) For Mathematics and Science teachers: Mathematics and Science or (b) For Social Science teachers: Social Science or (c) for any other teachers (a) or (b): 60 (MCQs); 60 (Marks)
2) Language I-Malayalam/Tamil/Kannada/English: 30 (MCQs); 30 (Marks)
3) Language II-(Other than Language I) Malayalam/English: 30 (MCQs); 30 (Marks)

Paper Pattern for Category-III:
There shall be one paper in this category. All questions will be of Multiple Choice type (MCQs) each carrying one mark
1) Adolescent Psychology, Theories of Learning and Teaching Aptitude: 40 (MCQs); 30 (Marks)
2) Language: Malayalam / English/Tamil /Kannada: 30 (MCQs); 30 (Marks)
3) Subject specific areas (Content & Pedagogy): 80 (MCQ); 30 Marks
Total: 150 (Multi Choice Questions); 150 (Marks)

Paper Pattern for Category-IV:
There will be only one paper in this category. All questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) each carrying one mark. There will be four alternative s out of which one will be the correct answer
1) Child Development, Pedagogy & Teacher Aptitude: 30 (MCQs); 30 (Marks)
2) Language Malayalam/English/Tamil/Kannada: 40 (MCQs); 40 (Marks)
3) Subjects specific paper (Content & Pedagogy): 80 (MCQs); 80 (Marks)
Total: 150 (Multi Choice Questions); 150 (Marks)
