Jhargram Raj College invites applications for admissions to M.A and M.Sc for the academic year 2015 - 16.

M.A and M.Sc is conducted by Jhargram Raj College.

Courses Offered:

MA in Bengali
M.Sc in Chemistry
M.Sc in Zoology

Intake:

MA in Bengali : 32 Seats (V.U. 19, Gen. 12, SC 04, ST 01, OBC-A 01, OBC-B 01)
M.Sc in Chemistry : 22 Seats (V.U. 13, Gen. 07, SC 03, ST 01, OBC-A 01, OBC-B 01)
M.Sc in Zoology: 22 Seats (V.U. 13, Gen. 07, SC 03, ST 01, OBC-A 01, OBC-B 01)

Eligibility Criteria:

Interested candidates should fulfill following eligibility criteria:

M.A. in Bengali:
=> 45% marks in Honours (for General candidates) and 40% marks in Honours (for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PWD candidates)

M.Sc in Chemistry & Zoology:
=> 50% marks in Honours (for General candidates) and 45% marks in Honours (for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PWD candidates)

Application Procedure:

=> After successful submission of the online application forms, the applicants may pay the requisite application fee of Rs.120.00 (Rupees one hundred and twenty only) in the

=> Online mode (using Credit/Debit cards or Net banking facility, as mentioned in the admission website) and generate their Admit Card for the Admission Test,

=> offline mode by paying in cash at the designated branches of AXIS Bank using the Bank Challan generated and after checking their payment status during the on-line filling up of the application form

Important Dates:

M.A and M.Sc Important dates section aims to list all important dates such as date of availability of form, last submission date, result date, counselling date, etc.

  • Online registration starts: 24th July 2015
  • Last Date for Online Registration: 02nd August 2015
  • Payment of Application Fee (online and offline): 24th July 2015 to 03rd August 2015

Selection Process:

=> Government of West Bengal, 60% of the total seats in each subject are reserved for the students of Vidyasagar University and 40% of the total seats are available for open competition (via Admission Test)

=> Selection will be made strictly on the basis merit. Honours candidates for the current session and the immediately preceding session (2015 and 2014 respectively) are eligible to apply and will be considered equally

=> The merit list for 60% category will be based on the marks obtained in the Honours subject. In case of equal marks in the Honours subject, total marks/percentage of marks of immediately preceding examination (H. S. or equivalent) will be taken into account for ranking

Jhargram Raj College, Jhargram
The college began its journey in the year 1949 as Jhargram Agriculture College. Practically, it is the brainchild of the then King of Jhargram - Late Raja Narasingha Malladev Bahadur. He donated more than 320 acres of land for the development of the college. The college was affiliated under Calcutta University till 1985. Teaching in new building started in 1950. Government of West Bengal took over this institution and renamed it as Jhargram Raj College (JRC). The first batch of students sat for I.Sc. (Agr.), I.A. and I.Sc. Examination in 1951, while B.Sc.
