Institute for Plasma Research (IPR) invites applications for admissions to PhD program in Engineering Science for the academic year 2015 - 16.

PhD program in Engineering Science is conducted by Institute for Plasma Research (IPR).

Applications are hereby invited from M.E./M.Tech (Nuclear Engineering / Nuclear Science & Technology) students for pursuing research in Engin
eering Science discipline leading to the award of Ph.D. degree under Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI). During PhD, students will get PhD
fellowship. The terms and conditions of the PhD Fellowships are:

1. The PhD Fellowship is tenable for three years for doing Ph.D.

2. The amount of Fellowship payable under the scheme is Rs.28000/- per month. Contingency grant of Rs.32,000/- per year will also be paid.

PhD in Engineering Science Eligibility Criteria:

Interested candidates should fulfill following eligibility criteria:

=> Candidates should possess M.E./M.Tech. or equivalent degree in Nuclear Engineering / Nuclear Science & Technology disciplines with minimum 60% marks OR equivalent CGPI (converted to% Marks by multiplying with 100/x if the CGPA is on x points scale) in M.E/M.Tech. Students should also have minimum 60% marks in their graduate/postgraduate degree.

=> Age limit: 28 years. Only those candidates who are born on or after August 1, 1987 need apply. Age limit is relax-able by five years for SC/ST and
three years for OBC applicants. Persons with Disability (PWD) of all categories are eligible for age relaxation of 10 years.

=> Nationality: Applicant should be an Indian citizen.

Selection Process:

Applicants who fulfil the above mentioned eligibility criteria, will be called to IPR, Ahmedabad tentatively on 1st– 2nd July 2015, for a written screening test, followed by an interview of the (shortlisted candidates).

Institute for Plasma Research is an autonomous R & D organization under the authority of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India situated near west banks of river Sabarmati in Gujarat, India. This institute is largely involved in theoretical and experimental studies in plasma science including basic plasma physics, magnetically confined hot plasmas and plasma technologies for industrial application. The institute owns two operational tokamaks (a machine for controlling thermonuclear fusion) - ADITYA and Steady State Tokamak (SST) - 1.
