Indian Maritime University (IMU), Chennai invites applications for Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) for the year 2015.

Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) Admission is conducted by Indian Maritime University (IMU), Chennai.

Admissions to Diploma in Nautical Science leading to B.Sc. (Nautical Science) programme of February 2015.

Admission to DNS programme of the Affiliated Institutes will be through All India Common Entrance Test for which the candidates have to appear.

Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) Eligibility Criteria:

Interested candidates should fulfill following eligibility criteria:

=> Pass in (10 +2) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60% OR

=> B.Sc. in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the year, with an average of not less than 50% of marks in the final year. OR

=> B.E / B.Tech. Degree from I.I.T. or from a college recognized by AICTE with an average of not less than 50% of marks in the final year

=> And he candidates should have obtained 50% marks in English language at 10th or 12th Std. or in the Degree course conducted by recognized Board or any University.

Other Qualification
Male Candidates belonging to General and other backward classes, categories, the date of birth should fall between 2nd February, 1990 and 21st February, 1998.

Female Candidates of General and other backward classes, categories the date of birth fall between 2nd February, 1998 and 1st February, 1998 Male and Female candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST), the date of birth should fall between 2nd February, 1985 and 1st February, 1998.

Physical Fitness Candidates for admission to DNS course are required to produce certificate for medical fitness by authorities authorized by Director General of Shipping. Candidates with Disability (DA) are not eligible for admission to marine courses.

List of approved doctors for issuing the certificate is available in MS Notice 14 of 2011 The candidate must be physically fit and should meet the medical requirements as specified by DGS guidelines. Failure to meet the medical standards would disqualify a candidate for admission.

In case of appeal, the same will be referred to a medical board appointed by the Indian Maritime University. The decision of such medical board shall be final. Cadets are subject to further medical examination by the respective shipping companies before joining ships.

Eye Sight
For DGS-approved course viz. DNS, Leading to B.Sc., (Nautical Science), there should not be any degree of squint or any morbid condition of eyes or of the eyelids that is liable to aggravate or recur, pressure of trachoma and iris complication sequela.

Application Procedure for Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS):

=> Provision for printing filled Challan for making payment through Offline mode payment

=> Arranging Test Venues at designated cities with sufficient number of computers, relevant software and necessary personnel to administer the CET smoothly without any hitch

=> Facility for Applicants to take at least 2 web-based Mock Tests of a nature similar to IMU’s CET so that they can get familiar with the computer-based mode of testing.

=> Facility for applicants to download their Hall Tickets/Admit Cards with the name of the Test Venue indicated.

=> Automated e-mails/SMS to every registered Applicant on successful registration of Application, uploading of Hall Ticket, publication of results, etc

=> Conducting the CET at the designated Test Venues

=> Evaluation of Answers and publication of CET results within 3 days.

Fee Details:

=> The Application Fee is Rs.1000 for General candidates and Rs.700 for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates.
