Central University of Orissa offers MSc, MPhil and PhD in Anthropology Admission 2015-16

Department of Anthropology (DA), Central University of Orissa, Koraput invites applications for MSc, MPhil and PhD in Anthropology for the year 2015-16.

MSc, MPhil and PhD in Anthropology is conducted by Central University of Orissa, Koraput.

Duration :

M.Sc in Anthropology (Two-years Programme)
M.Phil. in Anthropology (one year programme comprising of two semester)
Ph.D in Anthropology

In take Capacity:

M.Sc in Anthropology : 30 (UR-15, SC-05, ST-02, OBC-08)
M.Phil. in Anthropology: 10*
Ph.D in Anthropology: As per the intake capacity of Research Guides in the respective Departments.

MSc, MPhil and PhD in Anthropology Eligibility Criteria:

Interested candidates should fulfill following eligibility criteria:

M.Sc in Anthropology (Two-years Programme)
=> Any Graduate (Arts/Science) with minimum 45% marks in aggregate from a recognized University /Institution. (5% relaxation will be given to SC/ST candidates)
=> Maximum age limit:30 years

M.Phil. in Anthropology
=> Any candidate with 55% marks in Post-Graduation in Anthropology from a recognized University /Institution (5% relaxation will be given to SC/ST candidates).
=> No age limit

Ph.D in Anthropology
=> Any candidate with 55% marks in Post-Graduation in Anthropology from a recognized University /Institution (5% relaxation will be given to SC/ST candidates).
=> No age limit

MSc, MPhil and PhD in Anthropology Important dates section aims to list all important dates such as date of availability of form, last submission date, result date, counselling date, etc.

  • 9th July, 2015 : Closing date of online application for the above programmes

Selection Process:

The selection for the M.Sc. in Anthropology will be as per merit depending on the career scores (Annexure-I).
The selection for M.Phil Programme will be on the basis of Entrance Examination followed by Viva voce Test.
The selection for Ph.D. Programme will be on the basis of Entrance Examination followed by Viva voce Test.

The Pattern of Examination

The pattern of examination for M.Phil and Ph.D programmes will be based on the assessment comprising of 30% questions from General Aptitude (Section-A) and rest 70% questions from concerned subject (Section-B). A candidate who has secured 50% or more marks in the entrance test is eligible to appear in the viva-voce, subject to condition that number of candidates called will not exceed three times of the number of seats available. For Research Programmes (M.Phil and Ph.D) in addition to the above catagory, all exempted candidates (Candidates who have already qualified for CSIR/UGC-JRF/NET, SLET/SET, ICAR/ICMR etc. or Candidates with M.Phil degree) will be called for viva-voce test. The final selection of the candidates will be based on Viva-Voce marks only.

Central University of Orissa, Koraput
The Central University of Orissa has been established by the Parliament under the Central Universities Act, 2009 (No. 3C of 2009). It is one of the 15 new Central Universities established by the Government of India during the UGC XI Plan period to address the concerns of “equity and access” and as per the policy of the Government of India to increase the access to quality higher education by people in less educationally developed districts which have a Graduate Enrollment Ratio of less than the national average of 11%.
