Chandigarh University, Mohali invites applications for admission to Full-time/Part-time Ph.D programs for 2014. Chandigarh University (CU) located at Gharuan, Mohali has been estd through The Chandigarh University Act, 2012 passed by State Legislative assembly, and recognized under section 2(f) of UGC Act, 1956.

The PhD Programme can be pursued in the following disciplines

i) Engineering (Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical Engineering)
ii) Business Management
iii) Applied Sciences (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry)
iv) Computer Applications
Admission to Ph.D Programme will be made purely on the basis of merit following the prescribed criteria of the University based on UGC regulations
*Other disciplines may be added depending upon the viability and fulfillment of the conditions

i) Computer Science & Engineering (CSE): 06 seats
ii) Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE): 04 seats
iii) Mechanical Engineering (ME): 06 seats
iv) Business Management (BM): 10 seats
v) Mathematics: 04 seats
vi) Physics: 04 seats
vii) Chemistry: 04 seats
viii) Computer Applications (CA): 04 seats

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Educational Qualifications: The minimum educational qualifications for admission to the Ph.D programme of the Institute are as follows:

PhD in Engineering: Candidates with a Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology with a good academic record (minimum CGPA of 5.5 on a 10 point scale or 55% marks in aggregate where marks are awarded)

Admission of a PhD candidate in a department/school other than his/her basic background: Suitability of a candidate is the purview of admission committee, if a candidate qualifies the test and interview then he/she should be allowed to pursue PhD program

However, the admission committee may recommend additional courses for the candidate to clear

Relaxation for appearing in the Entrance Test may be given by the University to those candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR (JRF). Who have qualified GATE/UGC/CSIR

* For candidates who are in regular job for last 5-years, minimum CGPA of 5.0 on a 10 point Scale or 50% marks in aggregate at PG level is the criteria

Entrance test is mandatory

PhD in Computer Applications:

Master’s degree in Computer Applications/ Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent with a good academic record (minimum CGPA of 5.5 on a 10 point scale or 55% marks in aggregate where marks are awarded) and having a valid score in GATE/UGC/CSIRNET/ CU-Ph.D Entrance Test

PhD in Sciences:

Master’s degree in Computer Applications/ Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent with a good academic record (minimum CGPA of 5.5 on a 10 point scale or 55% marks in aggregate where marks are awarded) and having a valid score in GATE/UGC/CSIRNET/ CU-Ph.D Entrance Test

Ph.D in Management:

MBA/M.Com degree or equivalent PG diploma or Associateship in a relevant discipline, and a Bachelor degree with a good academic record or;

Five year integrated masters degree / dual degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline with a good academic record (minimum CGPA of 55% on a 10 point scale or 55% marks in aggregate where marks are awarded) and;

Selection Procedure:

Eligible candidates possessing the minimum educational qualifications and satisfying additional criteria as set above, will be called for an Interview by the Ph.D Admission Committee after initial screening through CU-Ph.D Entrance test

Based on the academic record and the performance of the candidates in the interview and/or test, the Admission Committee will recommend to the Vice-Chancellor the names of candidates found suitable for admission to the Ph.D programme

Tuition Fee (per semester) Rs 15,000/-

Refundable Security (one time) Rs.5000/-

On the date of PhD Entrance Test 20th July 2014 (Sunday) candidate must bring the following to the Venue of Test (Chandigarh University, Gharuan):

- Printout of the filled ONLINE application with the candidate’s signature and photograph

- Roll No. (Generated online)

- Downloaded Chandigarh University copy of Bank (SBI) challan (Only for those candidates who pay offline)

- Photocopy of necessary academic documents

Exam Date & Venue

On the date of PhD Entrance Test 20th July 2014 (Sunday) candidate must bring the following to the Venue of Test (Chandigarh University, Gharuan):
