Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the PhD program, candidates must have a postgraduate degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/DA candidates). The degree nomenclature must comply with Section 22 of the UGC Act. Full-time PG Diplomas from IIMs and XLRI, as well as CA/CS qualifications with a minimum of 55% marks, are also eligible. Those with PG diplomas from other institutions must provide equivalence (not approval) as determined by statutory bodies like AICTE/UGC/BCI. AIU equivalence is not acceptable for PG diploma programs. Work experience is not compulsory, and graduate degrees with or without experience are not eligible.

Application Process: The online SIU Pune PhD admission application form is available on the Symbiosis International University website at www.siu.edu.in. It’s important to note that the entire application process is conducted online, and there is no need to submit a hard copy of the application to the University.

Selection Procedure:

Selection for the PhD program is based on merit, with 70% weightage given to the combined scores of the Ph.D. Entrance Test and 30% weightage to the Personal Interview. Candidates with NET/SET/SLET/GATE/M.Phil. qualifications or those holding UGC/CSIR/ICMR DBT/RGNF/MANF/DST Inspire & NBHM Fellowships are exempt from the entrance test during the certificate/award’s validity period. However, such candidates are required to participate in the personal interview, which may also be conducted via video conferencing.

PhD Entrance Examination (PET):

Eligible applicants are required to participate in a Computer-based Test at designated centers. In the event of necessary circumstances, the examination may be conducted in a proctored mode.

PET is a multiple-choice test with no negative marking, consisting of two parts: Research Methodology (50 Marks) and sub-stream (50 Marks). The minimum passing marks are 50/100 (45/100 for SC/ST/DA candidates).

The University does not maintain a repository of past test papers since the exam questions are generated from question banks by selecting questions and choices.
