The National Institute of Immunology (NII), located in New Delhi, is inviting applications from eligible candidates for admission to its PhD programs for the academic year 2024-25, specifically for the Monsoon Session.

Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must possess an M.Sc. in any branch of science (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics), M.Tech., M.B.B.S., M.V.Sc., M.Pharm., Integrated M.Sc., or equivalent qualification as per Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi norms.
- For the general category, a minimum aggregate score of 60% or equivalent grade in Senior Secondary Certificate (10+2) and Bachelor’s degree is required, along with 55% aggregate score or equivalent grade in Master’s degree.
- There is a 5% relaxation in aggregate scores for candidates from reserved categories (OBC – non-creamy layer; NCL, SC/ST, and PwD).
- Rounding off the percentage score to the next integral value is not permitted.
- Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination in the current academic year are eligible to apply provisionally, pending satisfactory fulfillment of eligibility requirements at the time of joining.
- Reservations of seats include 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, 27% for OBC (NCL), and 5% for persons with disabilities (PwD) as per statutory norms.
- Additionally, there is a 10% reservation for persons belonging to EWS who are not covered under the reservation scheme for SCs, STs, and OBCs.
Application Process
- Candidates must submit their applications through the NII online application portal exclusively.

- Candidates applying through JGEEBILS-2024 must also submit an application through the NII application portal, along with the application fees.
- The online application facility will be accessible on the NII website from 22nd August to 22nd September 2024.

Mode of Payment: Online through Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking
- For General/OBC (NCL) candidates: Rs.1200/-
- For SC/ST/PwD candidates: Rs.600/-
Selection Procedure
- NII will select candidates for the Ph.D. program through two channels:
- Channel 1: Computer-based Entrance Examination, NII-2024-25M (monsoon-session), conducted by NII at multiple centers across India on 28th April 2024 (Sunday).
- Channel 2: Joint Graduate Entrance Examination in Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS-2024).
- Candidates must appear in at least one of the two examinations mentioned above.
- Short-listing for interviews will be based on candidates’ scores in either NII-2024-25M or JGEEBILS-2024.
- The list of candidates short-listed for interviews will be available on the NII website and Notice Board by 6th May 2024.
- Interviews will be conducted online during 4th-6th June 2024 & 10th-12th June 2024.
- The final list of selected candidates will be displayed on the NII website and notice board of the institute within a week of the final interview.
- Candidates selected will be enrolled for the Ph.D. program at NII in academic affiliation with JNU, New Delhi.
