Application invites for Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Admission 2015, International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Bangalore.

Admissions to Ph.D. degree programmes is based on the openings in the research domains. Call for January 2015, the following gives the openings .

=> One Ph.D. fellowship in the area of “Broadband Wireless Green Communication, Power Savings in IOT,” in the research domain of Networking, Communications, and Signal Processing.
=> One Ph.D. fellowship in the area of “Interactive three-dimensional visualization of large-scale multivariate data from ocean observations,” in the research domain of Data Sciences.
=> Three Ph.D. fellowships in the the following areas in the research domain of Software Engineering

1. Program analysis for domain specific languages
2. Automated testing and test case generation
3. Modeling, simulation and model checking (Model based engineering) for industrial automation
4. Requirements engineering: Unstructured to formal specifications

Ph.D Admission 2015 Eligibility Criteria:

Research domain-specific requirements are as follows:
A masters degree in engineering (M.E., M.Tech. or equivalent) is required for Ph.D. Additional research domain-specific requirements are as follows:

Data Sciences: Applicants for this stream should have taken one of the following examinations:
– GATE examination for Computer Science
– A 45-minute written examination conducted by the research domain at IIITB exclusively for applicants to Data Sciences.

=> Networking, Communications & Signal Processing: Applicants are encouraged to take GATE or GRE examination. Exceptional applicants without a GATE or GRE score may take a IIITB entrance examination or oral examination, as decided by the research domain.

=> Software Engineering: Applicants are required to have a GATE or GRE score. Exceptions to this requirement may be made on a case to case basis in presence of alternative credentials, e.g. proven track record of innovation in a relevant area via patents, publication, significant technical contribution to open-source projects and/or ventures in the relevant area. The applicant must provide concrete evidences to this effect at the time of application.

Ph.D Admission 2015 Application Procedure:

Admissions to the PhD programme for January 2015 is now open
=> At the admissions website, http://www.iiitb.ac.in/admissions-new applicant may find instructions,by Oct-20-2014, to access the online application form, fill it, and submit a completed application form as per the instructions given on the form.

=> All applicants need to pay a non-refundable application fee of INR 1000/-. The payment is to be made via bank transfer. The detailed instructions will be available with the online application form.

=> The admissions brochure, degree program manuals, and other important documents will be available for download at http://www.iiitb.ac.in/degree-programs

Fellowships/Scholarships & Tuition Fees:

=> For full-time Ph.D. students, a fellowship of INR 25,000/- per month for the first 3 years (extendable to 1 more year in deserving cases) is available. . Such funding for the Ph.D. students comes from within IIITB, from sponsored research projects, or with industry support from HP, IBM, Intel, Infosys, Motorola, Siemens, Microsoft, and other companies.

=> The tuition fees, as applied for admissions in January 2015, for Ph.D. program is INR 30,000/- per semester till the submission of the thesis.

=> In addition, residential students currently pay approximately INR 3000/- towards hostel rent per month and approximately INR 4000/- per month for food expense. These rates are subject torevision from time to time. Other costs for books and supplies, travel, purchase of a laptop, etc., need to be factored by students depending on their individual circumstances.

December 31, 2014 : Joining date – orientation and course registration

January 01, 2015 : Classes begin
