Ph.D Admission 2014 at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, Noida

RGIPT, Rae Bareli offers Ph.D. programmes in a wide range of areas in Engineering, Science & Social Sciences. The broad objective of the Ph.D. programme is to contribute to the development of respective fields by conducting front-end research and to train students to be lifelong learners. The Institute invites applications for admission to Ph.D. programmes for the academic session 2014-15 as per the following details:


# Chemical Engineering, Mathematics, Material Science, Physics, Renewable Energy, Chemistry, Geoinformatics, Geophysics, Geology and English
#Candidates having Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical, Electrical & Chemical engineering and Master degree in Physics are eligible to apply


One of the following in appropriate subject areas:

1. First class or 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST)/CGPA or CPI of 6.0 in Master’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology (M.E./M.Tech.) or equivalent and valid GATE score (GATE exam taken after M.Tech is also acceptable)

2. First class or 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST)/CGPA or CPI of 6.0 in Master’s degree in relevant discipline and valid CSIR/UGC/NBHM/DBT/DST Inspire Award or Fellowship Candidates meeting one of the above requirements will have to qualify in a subject-wise written test and interview. The written test will be on the lines of GATE/NET to test aptitude of a student in his/her respective subject area.
The eligibility for externally/company sponsored candidates will be minimum of 2 years of professional work experience after BE /BTech or M. Sc. in appropriate subject area (see more details in A4)

Candidates fulfilling eligibility criteria will be called to Rae Bareli for a written test and subject wise interview. Candidates called for the written Test/Interview will be paid to and fro AC 2 tier railway fare by the shortest route from their place of residence to the Institute. They have to produce evidence (railway ticket) in support of their claim.

The print out of the application duly filled and signed along with necessary enclosures should reach at the following address latest by May 23, 2014 (Friday). Please mark the envelope “Application form for PhD Programme.” You need to bring all the documentary evidences in original (testimonials, certificates, publications, work experience and research/professional experience) along with a self attested photocopy of each at the time of interview

The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MOP&NG), Government of India set up The Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) at Jais, Dist. Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh through an Act of Parliament (“Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology Act 2007"). RGIPT has been accorded the eminence of being an “ Institute of National Importance” along the lines of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT).
