National Institute of Technology (IIT), Jamshedpur invites applications for Full-Time/Part-Time PhD Program for Spring Semester for the year 2014 - 15. PhD Program for Spring Semester Admission is conducted by National Institute of Technology (IIT), Jamshedpur.

Ph.D Eligibility Criteria:

Interested candidates should fulfill following eligibility criteria:
=> PhD Programme may be offered admission, based on certain minimum academic requirements to be satisfied by the candidates as given below:

=> Bachelors/Masters Degree in Engineering/Technology or in the appropriate discipline with a minimum 6.5 CGPA or 65% marks from a recognized Institute or University (Minimum 5.5 CGPA or 55% marks for SC/ST candidates) (OR)

=> Master’s Degree in Sciences/Humanities/Social Sciences/Management/Computer applications or in the appropriate discipline with a minimum 6.5 CGPA or 65% marks from a recognized Institute or University (Minimum 5.5 CGPA or 55% marks for SC/ST candidates)

Faculty of Engineering
=> Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant discipline with a minimum 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks in both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels from recognized technical institute or university; minimum 6.0 CGPA or 55% marks for SC/ST candidates

Faculty of Science (Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics)
=> Bachelors and Master’s degree in Sciences in the relevant discipline with a minimum 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks in both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels from recognized institute or university; minimum 6.0 CGPA or 55% marks for SC/ST candidates

Faculty of Computer Applications
=> MCA /M.Tech in Engineering with a minimum 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks in Master’s levels from recognized institute or university; minimum 6.0 CGPA or 55% marks for SC/ST candidates

Application Procedure for Ph.D:

Candidates are advised to refer to official notifications /documents for detailed application procedure. IndCareer.com published details for informational purpose.

=> The filled-in applications along with the necessary documents and a crossed Demand Draft for Rs.1000/- (Rs.500/- in the case of SC/ST candidates) towards Registration fee, drawn in favour of the Director, National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur, payable at SBI RIT Branch (Code 1882), NIT Jamshedpur and should reach to Associate Dean (Academic: PG&R), NIT Jamshedpur-831014, Jharkhand (State) on or before 08th December 2014 (Monday)

=> Super scribe on the envelop “Application for PhD Admission in the Department of _______” the candidate is required to write on the reverse side of the Demand Draft his/her name and the program to which the application is being submitted

=> It is advised to send the application form by Speed Post/Registered Post

=> The candidates who are employed and wish to do PhD under Part-time Research Scholar (PRS) category must submit Sponsorship/No objection certificate from the employer at the submission of application/time of admission, without which admission will not be possible

Candidates are required to submit following documents With application form:
i) Demand Draft with details written on its reverse side
ii) Self-attested copy of SSC in support of Date of Birth
iii) Self-attested copy of intermediate /(10+2) Certificate
iv) Self-attested copies of Degree certificates and Mark Memos of the all qualifying examinations
v) Self-attested copy of the caste certificate (in case of SC/ST candidates)
vi) For OBC candidates, self-attested copy of OBC certificate issued after 31st Mar 2014 as per the format given in the Annexure-I only is accepted
vii) List of publications (if any)
viii) Sponsorship /No Objection Certificate from the employer for PRS category as per the format given in the Annexure-II & III
