National Institute of Speech & Hearing (NISH), Thiruvananthapuram invites application for Post Graduate Certificate Course Auditory Verbal Therapy (PGCCAVT) for the year 2014-15. National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH), Trivandrum, Kerala has invited applications for admission to 6-month advanced Post Graduate Certificate course in Auditory Verbal Therapy (PGCAVT) for academic session 2014-15

About Course

=> Post Graduate Certificate Course in Auditory Verbal Therapy (PGCAVT)

=> This course is a part of the professional preparation program and trains students for habilitation of children with hearing loss using cochlear implants/hearing aids through the auditory verbal mode

=> The curriculum consists of theory and practical classes for Auditory Verbal Practices, Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology and allied subjects such as Psychology

=> Those who successfully complete the 6 months certificate program will be awarded Post Graduate Certificate in Auditory Verbal Therapy

=> The total duration of the program is 6 months, which includes practical therapy sessions, clinical observations and classroom instruction

=> The medium of instruction for the course will be English only

No. of Seats : 20 (twenty)

Reservation of Seats

=> Reservations to the merit seats will be as per the University rules and regulations

=> 20% of the total seats (i.e. 4 seats) are reserved for candidates belonging to SC/ST

=> One seat is reserved for persons with physical handicap (PH) as specified in the PWD Act, 1995

=> If any reserved category seat remains unfilled in the above categories, the same will go to the general merit

PGCCAVT 2014-15 Eligibility:

Interested candidates should fulfil following eligibility criteria:
Only Indian citizens of Kerala origin are eligible for admission

=> Minimum educational requirements for admissions to this course is BASLP or B.Ed (HI)

=> Candidates with DTYHI and minimum 4 years of experience with young deaf children may also apply

=> The candidates should possess a valid RCI registration at the time of application

=> The candidate should have obtained minimum 55% marks in the qualifying examination

Mode of selection

The selection process will be based on the rank list solely prepared on the basis of the index marks calculated based on the points assigned for Qualifying examination, marks obtained for the qualifying examination and the years of experience working with young deaf children

The application fee is Rs.500/- for the general candidates and Rs.250/- for SC/ST candidates

Payment of application fee can be made at any branch of State Bank of Travancore using a challan form; payment should be made to State Bank of Travancore, Akkulam branch A/c No: 67224749979

The candidate can also download from the website the bank challan form

The bank challan will have the details of the NISH account to which the application fee has to be transferred; the reference number obtained from the bank and the remittance details should be entered in the application form

Those who have internet banking facility can remit the fees through NEFT transaction to “NISH FEE ACCOUNT”, State Bank of Travancore, Akkulam branch Account No: 67224749979 with IFSC Code SBTR0000581

Please note the Unique Transaction Reference (UTR) number and date as this will have to be entered in the application form

The candidates must print the completed application form from the downloaded link and send it along with the self-attested copies of the required documents and original challan / proof of NEFT transaction to the Executive Director, National Institute of Speech & Hearing, Karimanal PO, Akkulam, Trivandrum-695583

Please mark clearly on the top of the cover the name of the course “Post Graduate Certificate in Auditory Verbal Therapy”

The following self-attested documents should accompany the application form:

a) Copy of mark lists of qualifying examinations

b) Copy of the relevant document showing date of birth

c) Copy of community certificate for reservation in SC/ST or other quota, if applicable

d) Copy of the relevant document certifying physical handicap

e) Experience certificate stating the period of experience

Application forms along with the documents and original challan / proof of NEFT can be handed over at NISH front office or sent by registered post to ensure safe receipt at NISH Application forms received after the due date (for whatever reasons, including postal delay) and those not accompanied by required documents/details will not be considered

Fee Details:

Tution Fee - Rs 25,000/- (General seat)

Caution Deposit (refundable) - Rs 10,000/- (General seats)

Caution Fee is payable at the time of admission only; tuition and special fee are payable at the beginning of the course. Late charges will be applicable if the fee is remitted after the first 10 working days of the commencement of the course

The student has to pay the examination fee as prescribed by the Institute from time to time
