NIMCET 2014, NIT MCA Common Entrance Test


It gives me immense pleasure to invite all the eligible candidates to apply and write NIMCET-2014 test for admission into Master of Computer Applications Programme (MCA) offered by 11 participating National Institutes of Technology (NITs) at Agartala. Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli, and Warangal for the year 2014-15. The eligible candidates need to apply for NIMCET-2014 using online application only and then post a hard-copy of electronically submitted form along with necessary enclosures. Candidates’ profile cannot be altered online, on their own, after submitting his/her online application form. After scrutiny of applications, admit cards will be made available for downloading.


1. Candidates should apply for NIMCET-2014 through ‘Online’ only
• Candidates must follow instructions strictly as given in the website .
• Applications not complying with the instructions shall be summarily disqualified.
> Candidates should pay the processing fee (Rs.1,800/- for OPEN/OBC and Rs.900/- for SC/ST). Candidates have to pay processing fee amount through State Bank collect before filling the online application form in the website.
> After payment of processing fee, candidates should register on NIMCET-2014 website with login, password and then fill all the details as per the Online Form.
> After successful filling of data online and pressing submit button, a complete application form with unique application number will be generated. Candidate must quote this unique application number in future correspondences till the test is conducted.
> Candidates are required to take printout of the generated application form and send it with e-receipt of the payment and all relevant documents - “The Secretary, NIMCET-2014, National Institute of Technology Agartala, Barjala, Jirania – 799046, Tripura (W)” by Speed Post/Registered Post on or before 17th April, 2014.
> Please ensure all the supporting documents as specified in check-list are enclosed.
> Please keep two copies of the application and e-receipt for future reference.
> Candidates must remember their login, password, security questions and answers, e-mail
id entered in the application till the end of NIMCET-2014 process.
> Candidates will not be allowed to create multiple user logins.
> The application forms received after the last date 17th April, 2014 (even though the application is successfully uploaded), and the applications without supporting documents or e-receipt will be summarily rejected.
> NIMCET-2014 is not responsible for any postal delays and hence candidates are advised to post the generated application form with all necessary documents and e-receipt well in advance before the last date i.e., 17-04-2014.
3. Information regarding receipt of applications will be put on the website The candidates may check the receipt of their Application Number on the website (after 28-04-2014). Candidates whose particulars do not appear on the website may send an e-mail to [email protected] or [email protected] before 04.05.2014 by forwarding a copy of the generated application form, proof of payment of fees such as photo copy of e-receipt and two passport size photographs, proof of posting.

4. Admit cards will not be sent to the candidates individually by post. Eligible candidates can download their own Admit Cards. In case the Admit Card is not available for downloading, the candidates should send an e-mail to [email protected] or [email protected] between
10th May, 2014 and 15th May, 2014 giving details of the candidate’s application number and proof for remittance of fee. Telephone enquiries will not be entertained. 5. Candidate must preserve the Admit Card till the entire process of admission is complete. Request for issue of duplicate Admit Card will not be entertained after the examination in any case. Admit card number should be quoted in all subsequent correspondences

Eligibility Criteria to Appear For NIMCET-2014.

Indian Nationals securing$
at least 60% marks in aggregate or 6.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale (55% marks or 6.0 CGPA on a 10 point scale in case of SC, ST) in
(i) BSc / BSc (Hons) / BCA / BIT of minimum three years full-time*; OR
(ii) B E / B Tech or equivalent from a recognized University are eligible to appear for NIMCET- 2014 test.

Candidates who are appearing for final year/semester of BSc / BSc(Hons) / BCA / BIT of minimum 3 years or BE/BTech in the academic year 2013-14 are also eligible to apply for NIMCET-2014. Such candidates shall have to furnish the proof (in the form of a certificate issued by the head of institution where the candidate has studied- refer Annexure IV for proforma) that he/she is appearing for the examinations during the academic year 2013-14 and can submit the proof of fulfilling the eligibility criteria of NIMCET-2014 preferably at the time of Counseling/Admission but not later than 15th September, 2014, failing which their admission is liable to be cancelled by the respective NITs. NIMCET-2014 will not reserve a seat to a candidate due to any reason claimed for not fulfilling the eligibility criteria including the delay in publishing the results by the concerned University/institute.
* Students who have completed/completing degree BSc / BSc(Hons)/BCA/ BIT of 3 years from Open Universities are also eligible to apply provided their programme is approved by UGC / AICTE and Distance Education Council (DEC) of Govt. of India.

• The percentages of marks in qualifying degree are to be calculated on the basis of marks obtained in all the subjects studied in all the years including languages, optional and additional subjects studied, if any. The aggregate of marks secured in all the subjects in all the years computed using this method of calculation alone be considered by NIMCET-2014 for deciding eligibility.

Third round of allotment/upgradation - Thursday, 10th July, 2014

The National Institute of Technology Agartala is one of the 20 (twenty) National Level Technical Institutes setup by the Govt. of India. The Institute’s mission is "To help to improve the economic development of the country particularly the North-East states and also the public systems, through pursuit of excellence in technical education, research, consultancy and training".
