MPS Programme 2015, International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai

International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai invites applications for Master of Population Studies (MPS) for the year 2015 - 16.

Master of Population Studies (MPS) Admission is conducted by International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai.

Applications are invited for admission to the MPS programme of the Institute with Government of India fellowship for the academic session 2015-2016 to commence from 11th July, 2015.

No. of Fellowships:

50 Seats with Govt. of India fellowship.

Fellowship: Each selected Indian student will be awarded a Government of India fellowship @ Rs. 5,000/- per month.

Duration: One year (Full-time)

MPS Eligibility Criteria:

Interested candidates should fulfill following eligibility criteria:

=> Master's degree in any of the following disciplines: Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Geography, and
Anthropology, with a minimum of 55% of aggregate marks in all subjects (all semesters/parts included).

=> Candidates awaiting results of qualifying examination latest by 30th September 2015can also apply for consideration.

=> The upper age limit is 28 years as on 30.6.2015. Marks and age are relaxable for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per GOI rules.

Selection Criteria::

=> The selection will be made on the basis of a written test and personal interview. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for the test and interview.
=> Shortlisted candidates appearing for admission test are entitled to claim sleeper class train fare by the shortest route on production of original tickets and in case of road journey normal fare will be paid only for travel by public transport run by a Government body.


=> Officials can also be sponsored by Government departments, research institutions, universities, medical colleges and non-governmental organisations to be considered for admission. However, the selection will be made as per selection criteria.

=> Eligible foreign students can also apply for admission provided they secure financial support from any outside agency.

Application Procedure for MPS:

Candidates are advised to refer to official notifications /documents for detailed application procedure. published details for informational purpose.

Prescribed application form and information can be obtained from the Assistant Registrar (Academic), International Institute for Population
Sciences, Deonar, Mumbai-400 088 in person or by sending a self addressed Rs. 50/- stamped envelope (25cm x 12cm) on or before 29th May, 2015.

The completed application form along with necessary enclosures and a non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 500/- (exempted for SC/ST and PH candidates) by Demand Draft, drawn from any nationalised Bank in favour of the Director, IIPS, Mumbai should reach the Assistant Registrar (Academic) on or before 1st June, 2015. The processing fee may also be paid by cash at the cash counter and the cash receipt should be attached along with the completed application set. Incomplete applications will be summarily rejected. The Institute reserves every right to decide the number of seats to be filled or cancel the course at any moment. The Institute also reserves the right to change/alter certain rules at any time

The International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS) serves as a regional Institute for Training and Research in Population Studies for the ESCAP region. It was established in Mumbai in July 1956, till July 1970 it was known as the Demographic Training and Research Centre (DTRC) and till 1985 it was known as the International Institute for Population Studies (IIPS).
