Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam invites applications for M.Phil Degree Course for the year 2014 - 15. M.Phil Degree Course Admission is conducted by Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam.

All the Programmes run by the School give emphasis to behavioural aspects of health care and disability rehabilitation.
1. School of Behavioural Sciences

M.Phil. in Special Education and Rehabilitation Sciences

Eligibility
=> P.G. in Special Education/ M.Sc. Disability Studies and Rehabilitation Sciences/ M.Ed. degree with not less than 55% marks.
=> Preference to candidates with one paper in Special Education or with experience in reputed centres in Special Education or Diploma in Special Education.

Duration : 2 Semesters

M.Phil. in Rehabilitation Psychology

Eligibility : Masters degree in Psychology with not less than 55% marks.

M.Phil. in Behavioural Medicine and Rehabilitation (Full-time)

Eligibility : M.B.B.S. with not less than 55% marks. Preference to P.G. Degree holders.

Eligibility : Masters degree in Politics and International Relations/ Politics/ Economics/History/ Law/with not less than 55% marks.

Entrance test (2 hours duration) consisting of objective type questions, short answer questions and long essay on current affairs.

9. SCHOOL OF SOCIAL SCIENCES

M.Phil. in Social Sciences (Anthropology/Sociology/History/Economics)

Eligibility : Masters degree in Social Sciences with not less than 55% marks.

M.Phil. in Social Transformation and Empowerment

Eligibility : Masters degree in Social Sciences with not less than 55% marks.

M.Phil. in Human Ecology and Natural History

Eligibility :
=> P.G. Degree in Natural Science/ Material Science with not less than 60% marks or P.G. Degree in any of the Social Sciences with not less than 55% marks or Graduates of Forestry/Graduate Officers of the Forest Department with two years’ professional training in forestry or equivalent.

10. SCHOOL OF PEDAGOGICAL SCIENCES

M.Phil. (2 Semesters)

Eligibility : M.Ed. with not less than 55% marks.

Eligibility : M.B.A./M.Com./M.A. Economics/MHRM with not less than 55% marks

Mode of Examination

Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam is Computer Based Test (CBT).

Application Procedure for Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam:

Candidates are advised to refer to official notifications /documents for detailed application procedure. IndCareer.com published details for informational purpose.

a) All those who possess the approved minimum qualification are eligible to apply.

b) Only the Programmes and their equivalents approved by the Mahatma Gandhi University shall be reckoned as eligible qualification.

c) Copies of documents to prove qualification/age/caste and other relevant certificates should be attached along with the application. Original documents should be produced at the time of interview/admission.

d) Candidates AWAITING FINAL YEAR RESULTS CAN ALSO APPLY FOR THESE PROGRAMMES, PROVIDED THEY PRODUCE THEIR MARKLISTS BEFORE the finalisation of the rank list. Those candidates who have applied for Programmes in more than one School should submit copies of marklists to each School concerned.

e) No rounding of percentage of marks to the nearest whole number is permitted.

f) Those who have qualified from Universities other than M.G. University should produce eligibility/recognition certificate from this University and Migration Certificate/NOC from the parent University at the time of admission.

g) If an applicant for admission is found to have indulged in ragging in the past or if it is noticed later that he/she had indulged in ragging, admissions shall be refused or he/she shall be expelled from the educational institution.

h) The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India has directed that if any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the student concerned shall be given liberty to explain and if his/her explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority shall expel him/her from the institution.

The Registration Fee for M.Phil programme is Rs.500/-; candidates should remit the Registration fee by way of challan at any branch of SBT (Challan form can be downloaded from the University website) or at the University Cash Counter/Friends Janasevanakendram

SC/ST candidates need to pay only 50% of the registration fee

Selection Process:

=> 50% seats are reserved for teacher candidates and the remaining 50% for open quota.
=> Selection is based on the marks obtained in the Qualifying Examination, Entrance test and Interview in a proportion of 100: 40: 10 except for M.Phil Programmes in the School of Social Sciences, School of Pedagogical Sciences and the School of Pure and Applied Physics.
