University of Calcutta invites applications from eligible candidates in prescribed form obtainable from the university sales counter on payment of Rs.100/- for general category and Rs.50/- for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/DA categories for admission to the Master of Education course

Eligibility criteria for MEd 2014

Candidates must have a B.Ed degree with 55% of marks from any of the recognised universities

Candidates must have a M.A/ M.Sc/ M.Com degree with 50% of marks from any of the recognised universities

Selection

Selection will be made as per University and NCTE norms and usual reservation rules (SC 22%, ST 6% and PC 3%) will be applicable

The adoption of new policy for reservation of seats earmarked for Calcutta University and Non Calcutta University candidates may necessitate the formulation of a new mechanism for implementation of Calcutta University/Non-Calcutta University reservation policy

This new methodology, when formulated, will be notified

SC/ST applicants from the other states will not get the reservation facility of SC/ST

Admission to the said course is based on merit followed by counseling

The candidates employed on full time basis must apply through proper channel and furnish a no objection certificate from their employer at the time of submission of application forms

Admission Test Procedure for MEd 2014:

The students will be admitted on the basis of MCQ test, where the questions will appear from the three core papers of B.Ed Syllabus, 2012 of University of Calcutta, on OMR sheet with 50 questions carrying 2 marks, adhering to the standardized format of MCQ of the University

For each correct answer 2 marks, for wrong answer minus 0.5 marks, and for not attempted 0 (Zero) marks will be awarded

If there is a tie of marks obtained in the written entrance test amongst the candidates then the candidates with less negative marking will be placed in higher position in the merit list than the other candidate

Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe applicants from the other States will not get the reservation facility of SC/ST

Age limit: 40 years as on 30th June 2014 for fresher candidates and 55 years as on 30th June 2014 for candidates employed in Secondary/Higher Secondary Schools, Colleges, Govt. and Semi Govt. organizations

There is a relaxation of age for maximum of 5 years for students belonging to Scheduled Caste, Schedule Tribe and Differently Abled categories

Reservation of Seats & Relaxation of age and Marks: i) Seats: SC - 22%, ST - 6% and DA - 3%; ii) Marks: SC - 5%, ST - 5% and DA - 5%; iii) Age: SC - 5 years, ST - 5 years, DA - 5 years will be applicable

Application Submission: The application form can be downloaded from the Website of Calcutta University www.caluniv.ac.in

Documents to Submitted:

Attested copies of mark sheets of B.A./B.S. and B.com (Honours), M.A/ M.Sc/ M.Com, B.Ed, NET., SET, M.Phil, Ph.D and age proof certificate are to be submitted with the application forms in the office of the Secretary (Acting), Alipur Campus 1, Reformatory Street, Kolkata-27 (Office, Department of Education)

The fee structure for admission in different Institutions will be displayed on the notice board of the Department of Education, Calcutta University on 20th May 2014
Incomplete forms will be rejected

No individual intimation will be given to the selected candidates

Date of submission of application form: 27th Mar 2014 to 07th Apr 2014 between 11.30 a.m. and 03.00 p.m.
List of eligible candidates for Admission Test will be published on: 23rd Apr 2014 at 03.00 p.m.
Date of distribution of Admit Card from the Dept of Education, Alipur Campus, C.U. on: 28th Apr 2014 and 29th Apr 2014 between 12.00 noon and 04.00 pm
Date of Admission Test: 03rd May 2014
Venue and time of the admission test will be mentioned in the Admit Card
Date of publication of Merit List: 20th May 2014
Date of Counseling and Admission for Deputed Teachers: 23rd May 2014
Date of Counseling: 27th May 2014 (for 60% quota for C.U Candidates only): 06th June 2014 (for 40% quota candidates only)
