IDC Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay M.Des Product Design Admission 2014

Admission to Master of Design (M.Des) Programs in Design in some Institutes, for the academy year 2014-15. Industrial Design Centre (IDC) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay) offers an excellent environment for academics, research and applications in the field of design

Eligibility :

* The candidates should have a minimum of 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST) or equivalent grades in the qualifying examination
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Architecture Design/ Interior Design, or equivalent
* Professional Diploma in Design (NID/ CEPT, or equivalent)

Visual Communication/Animation/ Interaction Design

* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Architecture/ Design/ Interior Design, or equivalent
* Professional Diploma in Design (NID/ CEPT or equivalent)
* BFA (4 year Professional programme, after 10+2)
* GD Art (5 years programme after 10th) with one year professional experience
* Master’s degree in Arts/ Science/ Computer Applications

Mobility and Vehicle Design

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Architecture/ Design/ Interior Design or equivalent
Professional Diploma in Design (NID/ CEPT or equivalent)
BFA (4 year Professional programme, after 10+2)
Separate application form must be submitted for each discipline along with an application fee for each

Qualification Examination:

All applicants who would like to be considered for admission must be qualified through CEED (Common Entrance Examination for Design)

M.Des Programme for Foreign Nationals

A minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grades (6.0/10.0 or 2.4/4.0) at the qualifying examination
Valid TOEFL score (for candidates from non-English speaking countries)
Outstanding portfolio (to be evaluated by PGC of IDC, IIT Bombay)

Admission Procedure:

* The test will be held on 14th March, 2014 from 09.30 am onwards at the VMCC Seminar Hall of IITB
* The details of the admission procedure will be web hosted by last week of February, 2014
* This will be followed by an interview at IDC on 15th & 16th March 2014
* The list of selected candidates (provisional) will be displayed on admission site in the month of March
* The candidates selected for admission (provisional) will be required to pay the admission fees and other deposits in the month of April
* Candidates in the waiting list will have an opportunity for admission, if any of the selected candidates do not pay the fees in time
* The selected candidates after payment of requisite fees will be required to register for the course in the month of July. The course starts in July. Once the semester starts, you will not be able to take any break till the winter vacation which starts on 01st December

Application Form:

* The candidates who have qualified through CEED with a score more than 50 for general category (45 for OBC(NC) and 33.33 for SC/ST/PD) will have to further apply to IDC, IIT Bombay
* Application forms are available on IITB website. Candidates must download forms in the month of January by visiting IITB website:
* A hard copy of the application form duly filled in along with enclosures should be submitted to Deputy Registrar (Academic), Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Powai, Mumbai-400076, Tel 25767066, 25767059
* After downloading, submit the completed hard copy of application form with demand draft for Rs.300/- (Rs.150/- for SC/ST) for each application payable to ‘Registrar, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay’, Payable at Mumbai

Access to downloading the M.Des Application forms: 04th Jan 2014
Last date for downloading the M.Des Application forms: 17th Jan 2014
Last date of receipt of hard copy of the completed M.Des application forms: 27th Jan 2014
Dates for displaying the list of selected candidates for M.Des test and interview on IIT website 26th Feb 2014
Date for M.Des written test: 14th Mar 2014 (Friday)
Date for M.Des Interview: Saturday, 15th Mar 2014 & Sunday 16th Mar 2014

Declaration of Results on
01st Offer: 31st Mar 2014
02nd Offer: 08th Apr 2014

Payment of Fees:

1st Offer: 01st Apr 2014 to 07th Apr 2014
2nd Offer: 08th Apr 2014 to 14th Apr 2014
Registration and orientation: 11th July to 16th July, 2014
Instruction begins: 17th July, 2014
