HPU Shimla MBA Rural Development and MSc Admission 2014

The Institute of Integrated Himalayan Studies (UGC Centre of Excellence) was established in the Himachal Pradesh University, which is located in Summer Hill in Shimla in the lap of magnificent North-Western Himalaya.

MBA (Rural Development)

Eligibility

Minimum qualifications for admission to MBA (Rural Development) shall be Bachelor Degree (BA, B. Sc., BBA, B. Tech, BCA) under 10+2+3 pattern of education in any discipline or its equivalent from any Institute/ University recognized by the HPU, Shimla/ UGC, New Delhi with at least 50% (45% in case of SC/ST) marks in aggregate

Number of Seats:

50 (Subsidized: 15 and Non-Subsidized: 35) plus One Supernumerary seat each for Single Girl Child and One for Kashmiri Migrant

Basis of Admission:

The admission to this course shall be on the basis of merit as determined by the marks obtained by candidates in their qualifying examinations

However, if the number of applicants is five times the number of seats, the Institute will conduct an entrance exam

The maximum age limit for the course is 26 years for boys and 28 years for girl students on 1st July of the year concerned

In case of Scheduled Caste/Tribe, the upper age limit will be raised by three years (for boys and girls). Provided, that the Vice Chancellor/President of the institute shall have the power to permit the age relation for reason to be recorded in writing up to a maximum of six months

Entrance Test:

In this case the entrance test is conducted by the Institute; it will be followed group discussion and personal interview of the candidate conducted by the committee comprising external and internal experts under the chairmanship of course coordinator

The entrance test would test on common general knowledge and mathematical ability of the students

The entrance test will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions of interdisciplinary nature carrying half mark each

Weight age will be given to the marks at matric, 10+2 level and Graduation, entrance test and personal interview and group discussion will be as follows:

Matric/Graduation: 10% and 10+2 of the marks obtained

Entrance Test-marks obtained (out of maximum of 50)

Group Discussion/Personal Interview:

Total maximum marks: 100
Combined merit so formed will be the basis of admission

M. Sc. Environmental Sciences

Eligibility

Minimum qualifications for admission to M.Sc Environmental Sciences shall be Bachelor Degree under 10+2+3 pattern of education in Sciences (Medical and Non-Medical, Horticulture, Agriculture, Forestry) with any of the subjects, i.e. Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Genetic, Molecular Biology, MBBS/B.V. Sc./B.Tech or its equivalent from any Institute or University recognized by the HPU, Shimla/ UGC, New Delhi with at least 50% (45% in case of SC/ST) marks in aggregate

Entrance Test:

In this case the entrance test is conducted by the Institute; it will be followed group discussion and personal interview of the candidate conducted by the committee comprising external and internal experts under the chairmanship of course coordinator

The entrance test will consist of 120 multiple-choice questions of interdisciplinary nature carrying half mark each

Weight age will be given to the marks at matric, 10+2 level and Graduation, entrance test and personal interview and group discussion will be as follows:

Matric/Graduation: 10% and 10+2 of the marks obtained

Entrance Test-marks obtained (out of maximum of 60)

Reservation of seats

Admission to all the courses shall be subjected to the following conditions: 15% and 7.5 % seats shall be reserved for SC/ST candidates respectively, having domicile of Himachal Pradesh irrespective of the Institutions from where they have passed their qualifying examination

25% of the seats for admission shall be open for all the candidates irrespective of the Institution from where they have passed their qualifying exam

75% of the seats shall be filled out of the candidates, who have domicile of Himachal Pradesh subject to the following reservations;

05% of the seats shall be reserved for outstanding cultural activists and sportsmen/women and 03% of reserved for physically handicapped candidates

Provided, however that the minimum eligibility for admission to a course in case of SC/ST will be 05% lower than the eligibility conditions for other students

Tuition fee Rs.3500 (per semester)
Caution fee Rs.200/-
Admission fee Rs.25/-
Library Security (refundable) Rs.200/-
Computer fee/Practical fee Rs.500/-

Application Forms

Write in block capital letters the required information in the admission form; option filled by you this form cannot be changed at a later stage

Please note that your parent/guardian's name and your date of birth should be as per your High School or your first Board/University examination certificate and certificates and other documents are needed only at the time of Counseling

Submission of Application form

The application form duly filled along with the required documents along with demand draft / I.P.Os of Rs. 500/- (for General Category) and Rs.350/- (SC/ST/BPL from HP State) should be submitted to “The Director; Institute of Integrated Himalayan Studies, Himachal Pradesh University, Summer Hill Shimla-171005”

Those candidates whose result has not been declared can also apply

The number of seats can be increased or decreased by the university

Last date for the receipt of Admission form M.Sc (Environmental Sciences) & MBA (Rural Development), by hand 18th June 2014, by post 23rd June 2014 up to 5.00 pm
Counseling /Interview for M.Sc. (Environmental Sciences)

i) Subsidized seats: 04th July 2014 (10.00 a.m.)

ii) Non-subsidized seats: 05th July 2014 (10.00 a.m.)

Counseling /Interview for MBA (Rural Development)

i) Subsidized seats: 06th July 2014 (10.00 a.m.)

ii) Non-subsidized seats: 07th July 2014 (10.00 a.m.)

In case the fee is not deposited till the due date, late fee of Rs.5000/- will be charged for the next fifteen days, failing to meet this dead line will automatically cause the name of the student stuck off from the rolls

Fee once deposited shall not be refundable
