Application invites for DM, MCh Admission 2015, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. DM & M.Ch Courses for the academic session starting from 01st January 2015. The admission to the above courses of the Institute is made on merit on all India bases by holding an entrance examination by the Institute, after issuing a countrywide admission notice.

Eligibility for DM and M.Ch course

To be eligible for admission to a DM / M.Ch course at the Institute, candidates:

a) Candidates must have passed the required MD/MS, or its equivalent qualification, recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI), as detailed in Annexure 2

b) Candidates must be registered with Central / State Medical Registration Council

c) Candidates must be within the prescribed age limit as on / before 31st December 2014 as detailed below:
- For general category candidates: 35 years
- For SC/ST candidates, Ex-Servicemen and Commissioned Officer including ECO, SSCO who have rendered or released on satisfactory assignment (please attach proof): 40 years

PG Medical Question Bank Practice CD
- For OBC candidates: 38 years
- For Deputed / Sponsored candidates: No age limit

Qualification Requirement

To be eligible for admission to a DM/M.Ch course at the Institute, a candidate:

For all DM courses except for DM (Clinical Pharmacology, Neuro Radiology, Haematopathology, Cardiac Anaesthesia, Pediatric Neurology) course:
a) MD degree in Medicine or Paediatrics or its equivalent qualification recognized by the Medical Council of India, except as otherwise indicated
b) Must be registered with the Central / State Medical Registration Council

For DM (Clinical Pharmacology) course: MD degree in Pharmacology or its equivalent qualification in any clinical subject recognized by the Medical Council of India

For DM (Neuro Radiology) course: MD degree in Radiology or its equivalent qualification recognised by the Medical Council of India

For DM (Haematopathology) course: MD degree in Pathology or equivalent degree

For DM (Cardiac-Anaesthesia) course: MD degree in Anesthesia or equivalent degree

For DM (Pediatric-Neurology) course: MD degree in Pediatrics or equivalent degree

For DM (Histopathology) course: MD degree in Pathology

For DM (Addiction Psychiatry) course: MD degree in Psychiatry

For DM (Child and Adolescent Psychiatry) course: MD degree in Psychiatry

For DM (Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology) course: MD degree in Pediatrics.

For MCh courses: MS degree in General Surgery or its equivalent qualification recognized by Medical Council of India

For MCh (Plastic Surgery) Courses

a) MS degree in General Surgery / MS (ENT) / MS (Orthopedics) or its equivalent qualification recognized by Medical Council of India
b) Must be registered with the Central / State Medical Registration Council

Selection Procedure for DM and M.Ch Admission 2015

Selection of candidates for DM/M.Ch courses is two step process, with a theory examination followed by a practical examination. The theory examination will consist of a paper with two parts (Part 1 - General, and Part 2 - Specialty), each with 40 marks

Part 1 will consist of 40 multiple choice questions, each with four options and a single most appropriate response

The questions will be from the subject corresponding to the candidate’s postgraduate qualification, as per the list in Annexure 2

Part 2 of the paper will consist of 40 multiple choice questions related to the speciality for which the candidate has applied, each with five options and single/multiple correct response(s)
Total duration of the theory examination is 90 minutes

Each question correctly answered in Part 1 will be awarded one mark, with no negative marking for wrong answers

In correct responses will, however, be negative marked in Part 2 of the paper

This part has 40 questions, each with five response options. Hence there are a total of 200 response options. One or more of these five options can be correct for each question

Fees and Dues

The following dues are payable to the Institute, by the candidates admitted to the various M.D. / M.Ch Courses:

a) Registration Fee: Rs.500/-

b) Tuition Fee: Rs.250/- per annum

C) Laboratory Fee: Rs.900/- per annum

d) Amalgamated Fund: Rs.360 per six month

e) Security: Rs.1000/- (refundable only after completion of course)

f) Hostel Security: Rs.5000/- (refundable) to the deposited with the Administrative Officer (Hostel) if hostel accommodation is allotted

The first installment of fees for six months is required to be paid immediately after selection

Procedure for Applying

a) The candidate should fill his / her application form available on the PGI website i.e. http://pgimer.edu.in

b) The application, complete in all respects accompanied with all the relevant documents should reach the office of Registrar, PGIMER, Sector-12, Chandigarh on or before the closing date

Procedure for Online Application Form

1) After opening the PGIMER website i.e. www.pgimer.edu.in, the candidate will open the Application Form available on the website and fill up various columns

2) After filling up all the columns, the candidate will generate Challan Form and deposit the requisite fee in any Branch of State Bank of India anywhere in India; after that the candidate fill the Challan Form No./I-collect No. in the Application Form

3) The candidate will download / print the filled Application for and paste a photograph on the available space and place his/her signature on the Application Form

4) The candidate will attach all the relevant certificates / Annexures and Challan Form with the Application and sent the same to the Registrar, PGIMER, Sector-12, Chandigarh

Important Dates

Dates for downloading of Prospectus / Application Form from: 13th September 2014 to 20th September 2014

Date for generating the Challan Form from: 13th September 2014 to 16th October 2014 (23:59 hours) and the State Bank of India will accept the fee upto 20th October 2014

The last date of receipt of applications is 20th October 2014 (upto 05.00 PM)
