Direct Admission to Students Abroad (DASA) at NITK, Surathkal

NITs announce Direct Admission to Students Abroad (DASA) for undergraduate engineering programme for 2014 session. Ministry of HRD has entrusted the coordination of the admission process under DASA scheme for the academic year 2014-15 to NITK, Surathkal. Admissions for Foreign Nationals/Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs)/Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) under Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) Scheme of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India for Undergraduate programmes in engineering/architecture for the academic year 2014-15 to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and other premier Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTI) in India

Eligibility Criteria for DASA:

Age: Only candidates born on or after 01st October, 1989 are eligible
Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination, senior secondary (10+2) or equivalent from any system of education as recognized by the Association of Indian Universities
Candidate should have completed successfully Mathematics, Physics and one of the subjects from (Chemistry, Bio-technology, Computer Science, Biology) in 11th and/or 12th, as applicable in the respective boards; and

Must have secured a minimum of at least 60% aggregate marks (average of all subjects of qualifying examination taken together) or 6.75 CGPA (on a 10 point scale) or equivalent in the qualifying examination

In case, CGPA on a different scale is awarded or if only grades are awarded, percentage/CGPA equivalence provided by the principal examination authorities will only be considered

Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination with the above mentioned subjects in the academic year 2013-14 and expecting their final results latest by 15th September, 2014 may also apply; and
Candidates should have a minimum total valid score of 1440 in SAT Subject Test (Mathematics Level 2, Physics and Chemistry)

SAT subject test score has to be send directly through College/Board to NITK

Internet downloaded score cards are not acceptable

Candidates at the time of registration for SAT subject tests should indicate institute code 6530 for sending their scores to NITK

Candidates who have taken multiple attempts in SAT subjects tests can send each valid score to NITK directly through College/Board USA

The best valid score in each subject will be considered for arriving at the total score which will be used for merit list preparation

SAT subject test scores received till 31st May, 2014 only will be considered for preparation of the first, second and third merit list

Submission of Application

The submission of application is two stage processes, both are essential

i) Online application ( and submission of signed print copy of the application along with required documents and payment details to DASA Office, NITK Surathkal

ii) SAT subject test score to be sent to NITK Surathkal electronically through College Board, USA (Institute Code 6530)

Seat Allotment Procedure: Seat allotment will be based on SAT subject test scores and the choices given by the candidate, in the order of their merit and priority taken together 2180 seats are available for allotment

Confirmation of second list of candidates: 14th to 18th June 2014
Announcement of third list: 20th June 2014
Confirmation of third list of candidates: 20th to 23rd June 2014
Announcement of fourth list: 04th July 2014
Confirmation of fourth list of candidates: 04th to 07th July 2014
Reporting to allotted institutes: 14th to 17th July 2014
Announcement of vacant seat matrix for spot round: 21st July 2014
Spot admissions against vacant seats: 25th July 2014
